Trevon Diggs Reveals Cause of Concussion, Faces Uncertain Future with Cowboys

After weeks of speculation, Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs has finally explained how he sustained a concussion in mid-October that sidelined him for eight games. Diggs said the injury occurred when a ceiling-mounted TV installation pole accidentally fell on his head while he was trying to fix it himself.

NFL reporter Jane Slater shared that Diggs described the incident as an innocent accident rather than the more alarming rumors circulating online. Despite experiencing concussion symptoms on October 16, Diggs did not initially consider the injury serious enough for immediate medical attention.

The Cowboys placed him on injured reserve citing a knee issue, while Diggs maintained he was ready to play sooner. This discrepancy led to visible tension between Diggs and team officials, including owner Jerry Jones and head coach Brian Schottenheimer, who criticized his overall behavior and practice consistency.

With starting cornerback DaRon Bland sidelined by injured reserve, Diggs started the recent game but struggled against the Chargers. He recorded six tackles but was targeted heavily by quarterback Justin Herbert, who threw for 300 yards and two touchdowns with a 132.8 passer rating in the game.

Following the Cowboys’ 34-17 loss at home, Diggs acknowledged that the game might have been his final appearance at AT&T Stadium as a Cowboy. When asked about his future with the team, he responded, "Yeah, possibly. If this is my last [home] game with the Cowboys, it’s tough."

Despite the difficulties throughout the challenging season, Diggs expressed a desire to return to Dallas next year, stating, "After the season, I guess we’ll figure it out." The former two-time Pro Bowler signed a $97 million contract just two years ago but now faces an uncertain path with the franchise.

The Cowboys and Diggs will likely continue to evaluate his role as they prepare for the offseason and upcoming contests. His recovery and relationship with the team remain key factors in determining whether he remains a cornerstone of Dallas’ defense.
