Packers Players Brinson and Reed Receive Fines Following Week 16 Conduct

The NFL has fined Green Bay Packers rookie defensive lineman Warren Brinson and wide receiver Jayden Reed for incidents during the team’s Week 16 loss to the Chicago Bears. Brinson received a $4,981 fine for unnecessary roughness after grabbing quarterback Caleb Williams by the facemask.

This penalty negated a sack and converted a third-and-20 situation into a first down for the Bears late in the fourth quarter. Reed was penalized $10,880 for unsportsmanlike conduct due to taunting following a touchdown catch by Romeo Doubs.

The taunting penalty against Reed pushed the Packers’ extra point attempt back 15 yards, making the kick 48 yards, but kicker Brandon McManus still succeeded. Brinson and Reed are the first Packers players fined under the NFL’s gameday accountability program since defensive tackle Colby Wooden was penalized in Week 11.

Other recent Packers fines this season under the program include:

1. Colby Wooden, Week 11, unnecessary roughness, $6,789
2. Micah Parsons, Week 10, unnecessary roughness, $12,172
3. Evan Williams, Week 9, unnecessary roughness, $6,448
4. Quay Walker, Week 7, hit on quarterback, $17,389
5. Ty’Ron Hopper, Week 2, unnecessary roughness, $6,891
6. Xavier McKinney, Week 1, unsportsmanlike conduct, $11,593

Meanwhile, Bears defensive end Austin Booker was fined over $11,000 for two roughing the passer penalties against Packers quarterback Jordan Love, including one that contributed to Love sustaining a concussion. The ongoing enforcement of penalties highlights the NFL’s focus on player safety and sportsmanship during games this season.
