The Green Bay Packers have secured offensive lineman Sean Rhyan with a new three-year contract worth $33 million, according to his agents. This deal includes an $11 million signing bonus and carries a maximum value of $39 million.
Rhyan was selected by the Packers in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Since joining the team, he has established himself as one of the most versatile linemen on the roster. He has experience playing all three interior offensive line positions and ended last season as the starting center.
Midway through the previous season, Rhyan did not expect to return to Green Bay in 2026. However, an injury to starting center Elgton Jenkins led Rhyan to take over at the position, where he quickly found a stable role.
Throughout last season, Rhyan started seven games at center and four games at right guard. In the 2024 season, he started all 17 regular-season games at right guard. He previously saw action in 13 games over his first two seasons without any starts.
The Packers’ decision to re-sign Rhyan may signal a transition away from Jenkins, who has one year remaining on his contract. Jenkins is expected to be a likely candidate for release or trade given this new development.
