Today’s Dylan Dreyer Reflects on Savannah Guthrie’s Emotional Studio Return, A Family United Amid Uncertainty and Hope

The “Today” show cast continues to support Savannah Guthrie as she copes with her mother Nancy Guthrie’s unexplained disappearance. Savannah has been off the air since early February but recently made an emotional return to the studio.

Dylan Dreyer, a fellow “Today” anchor, described Savannah’s visit as deeply needed for everyone involved. Dreyer told TMZ that the reunion was “exactly what we needed, to just hug her, pray for her.”

Savannah’s appearance marked the first time the hosts had seen her since her absence began. Dreyer emphasized that Savannah was as eager to reconnect with her colleagues as they were to see her again.

The “Today” team is functioning as a close-knit family during this difficult time. Dreyer noted, “Hoda and I are dear friends outside of work… Seeing her here, it’s special.”

Hoda Kotb, who has been filling in for Savannah while planning to exit the show the following year, has also been a key source of support. Dreyer reiterated the team’s open and patient attitude toward Savannah’s return. “None of us know what that looks like… but we’re all open to it,” she said.

Savannah herself expressed a strong desire to return. During her set visit, she said, “I have every intention of coming back… You’re my family. And I would like to try.”

Supporting Savannah has involved collective moments of prayer and solidarity. Dreyer led a group prayer for the cast and crew, saying, “We’re here holding hands as a family… It is not too bold to ask God for the biggest miracles every day.”

Authorities have not identified any suspects in Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance, and the family has been cleared of involvement. Savannah has publicly announced a reward offer of up to $1 million for information about her mother’s whereabouts.

The “Today” show airs weekdays, continuing to spotlight both current events and the personal journeys of its anchors amid challenging circumstances. The ongoing support for Savannah Guthrie highlights both the resilience of the team and their commitment to one another during this uncertain time.
