Transjakarta Turns Corridor 13 Into A Green Runway, 5,000 Join Jakarta Sky Fun Run 2026

Jakarta is preparing to turn a transport corridor into a public running venue, with Transjakarta set to stage Jakarta Sky Fun Run 2026 along Koridor 13. The event is designed for 5,000 participants and brings together sport, public transportation, and sustainability in one city activity.

The run is scheduled to take place on the elevated lane of Koridor 13 on 12 July 2026. It also forms part of the celebration of Jakarta’s anniversary and the city’s path toward its 500th year in 2027.

A different use for urban transport space

Jakarta Sky Fun Run 2026 highlights how Transjakarta wants to use its infrastructure beyond daily mobility. The corridor will not only serve commuters, but also become a place for healthy and inclusive urban activity.

Fadly Hasan, Director of Business and Asset Utilization at PT Transportasi Jakarta, described the event as a symbol of Transjakarta’s long journey in supporting public movement. He said the service, which began operating in 2004, has grown into the world’s longest Bus Rapid Transit system.

He added, “Through Jakarta Sky Fun Run 2026, we invite the public to enjoy Jakarta from a different point of view.” The statement reflects Transjakarta’s effort to present a more modern city without leaving behind its core role as a public transport provider.

Beyond smart city technology

The event’s smart city concept is not limited to the use of transport space. Transjakarta is also linking it to sustainability through its Green Movement program, which is designed to connect public participation with measurable environmental action.

One highlighted initiative is Bank Sampah dari Rumah, a waste-sorting program that starts at home. The program supports circular economy practices in urban neighborhoods, while participants receive a ticket discount for Jakarta Sky Fun Run 2026.

That incentive is intended to encourage simple environmentally friendly behavior through a public event that is close to the community. It also gives the sustainability message a direct connection to everyday habits.

Every ticket supports mangrove planting

Transjakarta has also set a clear environmental mechanism for the event. Each ticket sold will be converted into the planting of one mangrove seedling in Jakarta’s coastal area.

The step is meant to support climate change mitigation and protect coastal ecosystems. Jakarta’s coastline continues to face pressure from urbanization and rising sea levels.

To strengthen transparency, Transjakarta is working with Carbon Ethics on the mangrove planting program. Through that collaboration, participants can monitor the growth of mangroves planted through their contributions.

This data-based approach is meant to make the environmental impact more concrete for participants. They will not only take part in a run, but also be able to see the outcome of their involvement.

Placed in Jakarta’s anniversary moment

The event carries the theme “Running Into Tomorrow,” which places it within the 499th anniversary celebration of Jakarta. The same theme also points toward the capital’s journey to its 500th year in 2027, with green mobility as one of its central narratives.

Jakarta Sky Fun Run 2026 shows how sport, public transport, and the environment can be combined into a single city agenda. It also demonstrates that modern public space can emerge through collaboration between the city government, transport provider, environmental partners, and the public.

Fadly Hasan said Jakarta’s future will not be shaped only by physical development and technology. He pointed to decisions to use public transport, make positive use of urban space, and protect the environment as part of a collective step toward a better Jakarta.
