University of Nebraska guard Sam Hoiberg has been named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® team. This recognition highlights student-athletes who excel both in their sport and academically.
Hoiberg achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.749 in sports media and communications. His strong academic performance complements his impressive contributions on the basketball court.
The senior guard is pivotal to Nebraska’s historic men’s basketball season. The Huskers currently hold a 28-6 record and have reached their first NCAA Sweet 16 in program history.
On the court, Hoiberg averages 9.4 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 2.0 steals per game. His all-around skills have earned him All-Big Ten honors and a spot on the Big Ten All-Defensive Team.
Statistically, Hoiberg ranks in the top 10 in the Big Ten for assists and steals. Nationally, he is fourth with a 4.08-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio, demonstrating excellent decision-making and efficiency.
Throughout his collegiate career, Hoiberg has helped the Huskers achieve three consecutive 20-win seasons. The team has also made three straight postseason appearances during his tenure.
Academically, Hoiberg graduated in December 2025. He is a three-time Academic All-District honoree and is now in contention for Academic All-America honors.
Additionally, Hoiberg has been recognized as a four-time academic All-Big Ten selection. He also earned the distinction of Big Ten Distinguished Scholar twice.
His academic achievements are further reflected in being a two-time NABC Honors Court honoree. These accomplishments showcase his dedication off the court.
The Huskers are preparing to face Iowa in the upcoming NCAA Sweet 16 game. The matchup is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. and will be broadcast on TBS and truTV.
