Volvo owners in Europe are set to get a much simpler charging experience as the company opens access to more than 20,000 Tesla Superchargers through its official smartphone app. The change is scheduled to arrive in the fourth quarter of 2026 and is designed to remove one of the most frustrating parts of long-distance EV ownership.
Instead of switching between multiple services, drivers will be able to use Volvo’s own app to find, activate, and pay for charging in one place. That integration comes through Volvo Public Charging Service, which brings the process under a single system and makes public charging feel more unified.
A wider charging network inside the Volvo app
The new access covers 29 European countries, including major markets such as Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Italy, Spain, Sweden, and Norway. For drivers who regularly travel across borders, that kind of coverage can matter as much as the number of charging points itself.
Tesla’s Supercharger network is widely known for fast-charging reliability, which makes it especially useful on long trips. By bringing it into Volvo’s official charging service, the company is adding a major fast-charging option without forcing users to leave the ecosystem they already use.
Which Volvo models are included
Volvo says the integration is not limited to a small set of vehicles. The lineup mentioned includes the EX30, EX30 Cross Country, EX40, EC40, EX60, EX90, and the electric sedan ES90.
That means the benefit is spread across compact models, SUVs, and a sedan, giving Volvo’s battery electric vehicle customers a more consistent charging experience. Whether the car is used mainly for everyday driving or for longer journeys, the charging process is intended to feel the same across the range.
Part of a broader charging strategy
The company’s charging plans are not limited to Europe. In key Asia-Pacific markets such as Japan and South Korea, Volvo plans to move selected models to the North American Charging System, or NACS, with the transition targeted for 2029.
That direction is meant to make access to local Tesla Supercharger networks more direct and seamless without requiring a large adapter. In North America, charging at Tesla stations is already described as standard practice for Volvo customers, showing that the company is trying to align the charging experience across regions.
Existing access is already extensive
Volvo already gives drivers access to around 1.2 million charging points in Europe through its app. Globally, that number rises to three million charging points, and the addition of Tesla Superchargers strengthens that network further.
The practical advantage is clearest on intercity routes and long-distance travel, where charger availability and network reliability often matter more than the raw count of listed locations. For many EV owners, the biggest benefit is not just convenience but the reassurance that a trusted fast charger is nearby when needed.
