A budget Windows 11 laptop is now the first confirmed home for Qualcomm’s Snapdragon C, but the chip’s real capabilities are still mostly hidden. Acer has already placed the Aspire Go 15 in front of it, yet the company has only revealed a narrow slice of what the device can actually do.
A first look at Acer’s budget Snapdragon laptop
Acer says the Aspire Go 15 is the first laptop to use Snapdragon C. That makes it an important launch point for Qualcomm’s move into lower-cost PCs, especially in a segment that starts around $300.
Even so, the information made public so far stays limited to basic product details. Acer has confirmed up to 8GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, along with a 15.6-inch display, but it has not disclosed the panel resolution.
Connectivity also remains only partly defined. Acer says the laptop will include two full-function USB Type-C ports, while the HDMI standard has not been announced.
Qualcomm is still withholding key chip details
The biggest unknown is the Snapdragon C itself. Qualcomm has not shared much technical information about the processor, and the only confirmed detail so far is that it does not use Oryon cores.
That leaves the chip difficult to place within Qualcomm’s broader lineup. At this point, the company is leaning more on positioning than on performance data.
Qualcomm is still promoting the kind of messaging often aimed at affordable laptops: all-day battery life. However, no testing numbers or benchmark results have been released to back up that claim, so real-world performance remains unverified.
Why this launch matters for the low-cost PC market
The decision to aim Snapdragon C at laptops starting around $300 gives a clear signal about Qualcomm’s strategy. The company appears to be targeting the price bracket where value matters most and where competition is usually intense.
That move also arrives as the budget laptop market continues to shift. Apple recently drew attention with the $599 MacBook Neo, which widened access to macOS laptops and pushed rivals to respond.
Intel answered with Wildcat CPUs as a low-cost option for competitors to the MacBook Neo. Snapdragon C now seems to be following a similar path in the Windows ecosystem.
More answers may arrive soon
Qualcomm has said Snapdragon C-powered devices will debut later in 2026, which suggests there is still time for more specifications to emerge. Computex, which takes place next week, could provide a more complete picture if Acer and Qualcomm choose to expand on the launch.
Both companies are scheduled to appear at the event. That makes Aspire Go 15 a likely focal point once pricing, full hardware details, and the broader product direction are finally made clearer.
