Acer is taking a more aggressive step into handheld gaming with the Predator Atlas 8, a device built around Intel’s latest Arc G3 platform. That alone makes it stand out, since the handheld gaming market has been dominated for a long time by AMD-based chips.
The move also signals a stronger push from Intel into a segment that has grown increasingly crowded, with devices such as the Steam Deck and other modern handhelds competing for attention. Acer is positioning the Predator Atlas 8 as a premium entry, while also helping introduce Intel’s new handheld-focused chipset line to a wider audience.
Intel-powered hardware options
Predator Atlas 8 will arrive with two chipset choices: Intel Arc G3 Extreme and Intel Arc B390. Both are designed specifically for portable gaming, with performance and power efficiency tuned for handheld use.
Acer is clearly using the platform to separate this model from its earlier Nitro Blaze handheld lineup. With the Predator branding attached, the Atlas 8 is aimed at the upper end of the handheld gaming market rather than the mainstream tier.
Display and system features
The device uses an 8-inch WUXGA display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Acer also includes Variable Refresh Rate support, which should help keep gameplay smoother when frame rates fluctuate.
On the software side, the handheld runs Windows 11 and includes Xbox Mode. That combination gives users a more flexible PC gaming experience in a portable form factor.
Cooling built for sustained gaming
Thermals are another major focus of the Predator Atlas 8. Acer equips the device with Predator AeroBlade Cooling, using a dual-fan design inspired by its Predator gaming laptops.
The setup combines a metal AeroBlade fan with 89 blades and an additional plastic fan. Acer appears to be targeting stronger heat dissipation so the handheld can keep performance stable during longer gaming sessions.
Controls, battery, and connectivity
For input, Acer has included Hall Effect triggers, though the joystick itself is not Hall Effect-based. The triggers also support adjustable hair-trigger stops, which should benefit fast-paced games that need quick and precise responses.
The Predator Atlas 8 will come in two weight variants, with one model under 810 grams and another under 770 grams. Power comes from an 80Wh battery, while memory and storage configurations go up to 24GB of RAM and 1TB of internal storage.
Connectivity is also up to date, with Bluetooth 5.4 and Wi-Fi 7 on board. Acer is clearly aiming for a handheld that can handle not only local gaming performance, but also faster and more stable wireless connections.
Availability
Acer says the Predator Atlas 8 will begin rolling out in October 2026. The company has not announced pricing yet, so the final market position of the device still remains open.
