Redmi A7 Pro Stands Out in a Tighter Budget Market, and Its UFS Storage Is the Real Advantage

As entry-level phone prices continue to rise, devices under Rp2 million are forcing buyers to accept more compromises. In that market, Redmi A7 Pro is still seen as having a meaningful advantage for a price around Rp1.7 million.

The standout feature is not a fast chipset or a high-end camera. Instead, the key difference lies in storage, where Redmi A7 Pro uses UFS rather than the more common eMMC found in many cheap phones.

That detail matters more than it once did. For 2026’s low-cost segment, storage has become one of the clearest ways to separate a practical daily phone from a model that simply looks competitive on paper.

Why the storage choice matters

According to @WitechID, the market for affordable phones has changed significantly this year. Specs that were still easy to find at below Rp2 million last year now feel much harder to get at the same price.

He also noted that combinations like this are likely to appear more often in today’s budget phones. For buyers, that means reading the fine print is increasingly important, because price increases do not always come with a meaningful jump in capability.

@WitechID cited Itel City 200 as an example of a similarly positioned phone that still uses eMMC. In practical use, Redmi A7 Pro’s UFS storage is expected to feel more responsive when opening and closing apps, while game loading may also be faster.

A market comparison that shows the shift

The contrast with last year is especially clear around the Rp1.7 million range. At that level, consumers could still find phones with Helio G99 and UFS storage, including models from larger brands such as Samsung A07.

Today, that kind of package is much harder to find below Rp2 million. Even looking at older models is not a simple solution, because prices for previous-generation phones with similar specifications have also moved up.

@WitechID also mentioned Infinix Hot 70, which sits in the low-Rp2 million range, but said it only comes with 4GB of RAM. That further reinforces how limited the current choices have become in this price class.
