Oppo Reno 16 Global Moves to Snapdragon, Bubble Accessory Could Change Selfies

Oppo Reno 16 series is edging closer to an Indonesian launch after already debuting in China at the end of May 2026. Its presence has been reinforced by official certifications in Indonesia and benchmark data that point to a global version with a different chipset strategy.

The most notable shift is on the global model, which is said to use Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 instead of the MediaTek chip found in the China version. For users watching the Reno line, that difference may matter as much as the hardware design itself.

Certification trail points to Indonesia

PT Bright Mobile Communication has registered three model numbers at Postel Komdigi: CPH2865, CPH2859, and CPH2863. Those codes are linked to Oppo Reno 16 5G, Reno 16F 5G, and Reno 16 Pro 5G, while the same numbers also appeared in P3DN and were declared compliant with TKDN requirements.

This certification trail has strengthened speculation that the series will arrive in Indonesia soon. Oppo has not announced an official release schedule, but the series is being discussed as a possible debut in the second or third quarter of 2026.

Global Reno 16 shifts to Snapdragon

Geekbench data indicates that the global Oppo Reno 16, carrying model number CPH2865, runs on Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 paired with 12 GB of RAM. The 4 nm chipset recorded a single-core score of 1,240 and a multi-core score of 3,994.

That setup differs from the China model, which uses MediaTek Dimensity 8500. The split suggests Oppo is tailoring the Reno 16 family for different markets rather than keeping a single configuration worldwide.

Reno 16 Pro keeps premium focus

The global Reno 16 Pro is also expected to differ from the China version in several key areas. According to PhoneArena, the China model comes with a 7,000 mAh battery, MediaTek Dimensity 9500s, and a four-camera setup centered on a 200 MP main camera.

For the global version, the battery is expected to drop to 6,700 mAh and the chipset to Dimensity 8550. Even with those changes, the 6.32-inch AMOLED display with a 144 Hz refresh rate is expected to remain part of the package.

Bubble is the headline accessory

One of the most unusual elements in the Reno 16 series is Bubble, a magnetic accessory with a small round screen. It works as a viewfinder when users take selfies with the 200 MP main camera instead of relying on the front camera.

That approach gives Oppo a different way to frame mobile photography, especially for users who want the sharper results of the rear camera in self-portraits. Bubble effectively turns the camera system into a more flexible tool for selfie shooting.

Reno 16F 5G targets a more accessible tier

Alongside the higher-end models, Reno 16F 5G is positioned as a more affordable option in the lineup. It comes with a 6.57-inch display, 120 Hz refresh rate, 6,500 mAh battery, and MediaTek Dimensity 7300 chipset.

The entire Reno 16 series is also said to ship with Android 16 out of the box. In addition, the devices carry IP69 certification, indicating strong resistance to water and dust.

With Indonesian certifications already in place, a Snapdragon-powered global model on the way, and the Bubble accessory adding an unusual camera twist, the Reno 16 series now looks close to a broader rollout. The appearance of Reno 16 5G, Reno 16F 5G, and Reno 16 Pro 5G in local filings suggests only the formal launch details are still missing.
