Hyundai is reportedly preparing a full redesign for the Kona rather than limiting the model to a routine refresh. The move points to a more aggressive strategy for the 2027 model year in a crowded compact SUV segment.
The new direction is expected to combine a tougher exterior, a more advanced cabin, and a fresh set of powertrain options. That combination is shaping the Kona 2027 into one of Hyundai’s most closely watched upcoming SUV changes.
A boxier body with a more assertive presence
Leaked information suggests the next Kona will move away from the softer look of the current model. The new version is expected to adopt a boxier, more muscular stance that gives it a stronger road presence.
At the front, the SUV is said to feature dual-tier matrix LED lighting paired with modern horizontal daytime running lights. The grille and hood are also expected to be redesigned with sharper lines to create a more premium SUV appearance.
The side profile is likely to receive a floating roof treatment similar to the latest Hyundai Tucson. Black overfenders stretching from front to rear should further reinforce the Kona’s rugged visual identity.
