Huawei is preparing to launch the HUAWEI MatePad Mini in Indonesia on 24 June 2026, and the device is arriving with a clear message: portability does not have to mean compromise. The tablet is positioned as a “Mini but Mighty” device designed to bridge the gap between a smartphone and a laptop.

That positioning matters at a time when many users want a screen that is easier to carry than a notebook but more practical than a phone. For reading, note-taking, light work, and entertainment on the move, a compact tablet can fill a role that a larger device often cannot.

A compact form factor built for constant movement

The MatePad Mini comes with an 8.8-inch display, a 5.2 mm body, and a weight of around 260 grams. Those dimensions place the device firmly in the portable category while still keeping it suitable for daily productivity tasks.

Huawei says the small size also makes it easier to slip into a small bag. That makes it relevant for users who move between locations frequently, including students and professionals who spend much of the day outside an office.

PaperMatte display designed for reading comfort

One of the main features of the MatePad Mini is its Flexible OLED PaperMatte Display, which Huawei says is the first tablet mini to use this type of panel. The display is meant to improve comfort for users who spend long periods reading documents, reviewing materials, or using an e-book.

The company says the screen has anti-glare, anti-reflection, and anti-sparkle properties. Its finish is also intended to resemble paper, which should make reading and writing feel more natural than on a conventional display.

That approach is aimed at people who often work or study in bright environments. Outdoor use is also one of the scenarios Huawei is clearly targeting with this display technology.

Apps for work, study, and creative tasks

Huawei is pairing the tablet with a set of productivity apps. WPS Office 3.0 is included for opening, editing, and printing documents, making the device more practical for office and school use.

For note-taking, the device uses HUAWEI Notes with AI Handwriting Enhance. It also includes AI Equation Recognition, a tool that can recognize and calculate equations to support learning tasks.

Creative users are not left out either. GoPaint is available for sketches, illustrations, and digital artwork, and it adds features such as Intelligent Color Card, Rotation Brush, 3D Oil Painting Brush, and Frame Animation.

Accessories and launch offers add extra value

The MatePad Mini is supported by the Multi-functional Premium Vegan Leather Folio Cover, which serves as both protection and a stand for video calls, document reading, and entertainment. The folio also includes a dedicated storage space for the HUAWEI M-Pencil.

When needed, the accessory can be detached and used as a protective case for everyday mobility. Huawei is also lining up launch offers from 24 June to 24 July 2026 with a total value of up to Rp4.5 million.

The promotional package includes the HUAWEI M-Pencil 3rd Gen, the MatePad Mini Folio Cover, one battery replacement service within three years, two PaperMatte screen repair services within one year, and access to iQIYI VIP and Noice Premium for a limited period.

With that mix of portability, reading-focused display technology, and productivity tools, the HUAWEI MatePad Mini is being presented as a mobile companion for users who want more than a phone but do not want to carry a laptop everywhere.
