8BitDo has expanded its arcade controller lineup with the Arcade Controller Pro, a model that adds an onboard screen, a tighter control layout, and support for Windows as well as Nintendo Switch and Switch 2. The new version signals a more serious push toward players who want deeper control directly from the device.
The most noticeable upgrade is the 1.47-inch display built into the body. It shows remaining battery life and lets users change settings without a companion app, including real-time button monitoring, SOCD adjustment, button remapping, and RGB lighting control.
A denser layout with more programmable controls
8BitDo designed the Arcade Controller Pro with smaller, more closely spaced buttons so finger reach feels more natural. The button caps are also said to be improved, while the overall control arrangement differs from the standard model.
The controller includes five programmable buttons, P1 through P5, along with lock caps. By comparison, the standard model has four buttons, while the Xbox edition has only two.
On the left side of the body, 8BitDo has also added a dedicated capture button. A physical dial is included for switching between Bluetooth and 2.4GHz mode, enabling or disabling Tournament Lock, adjusting volume, and changing display settings.
Built to be opened, swapped, and customized
The Arcade Controller Pro continues the flexibility that has defined 8BitDo’s arcade controller line. Its front glass panel can be lifted easily to access the internal components and the extra switch space.
Inside, 8BitDo uses low-profile linear 8BitDo Core green mechanical switches that are hot-swappable and developed with Kailh. That gives users a simpler way to replace the switches based on their preferred feel.
The controller also includes a cable lock system to keep the USB-C cable secure during wired play. In addition, it offers two USB-C ports, a 3,000mAh battery, and a removable magnetic wrist rest.
New finishes and dynamic labels
8BitDo is offering the Arcade Controller Pro in two color options, White and N Edition. The White version stands out visually with a clean look that contrasts with the more technical, crowded style often associated with arcade controllers.
Beyond the color choices, the controller also supports dynamic inputs. The illuminated button labels automatically change when the user switches between the Switch and PC layouts.
The device is compatible with Windows, Switch, and Switch 2. According to 8BitDo, battery life can reach up to 15 hours of play, making the controller suitable not only for desk setups but also for longer gaming sessions.
There is no official price tag for the Arcade Controller Pro yet. However, pre-orders are scheduled to begin in September 2026, and 8BitDo will also showcase it at EVO 2026 starting Friday, June 26.
