A new fanless mini PC from SilentPC is pushing into unusual territory for compact systems. Built around an Akasa Pascal case with water and dust protection, it is designed for environments where a standard desktop would not last long.
The most striking part is not just the sealed design, but the promise of IP65-level resistance combined with passive cooling. SilentPC says the system can be mounted in harsher settings such as a car or a boat, which makes it stand out from typical small-form-factor machines.
Desktop Zen 5 performance in a sealed chassis
Inside, SilentPC uses the ASRock X600TM-ITX motherboard with support for AMD Zen 5 desktop processors. Buyers can choose between the Ryzen 5 9600X, which has 6 cores, 12 threads, and a boost clock up to 5.4 GHz, or the Ryzen 7 9700X, which offers 8 cores, 16 threads, and a boost clock up to 5.5 GHz.
The fanless approach helps explain why the Akasa case accounts for more than half of the system’s price. That enclosure is doing much of the heavy lifting by allowing the machine to stay cool without active airflow.
Memory, storage, and connectivity
The ASRock X600TM-ITX motherboard supports up to 96 GB of DDR5-6400 memory. For storage, it includes two M.2 PCIe 4.0 slots and two SATA connectors, with motherboard-level support reaching 16 TB NVMe and 16 TB SATA.
SilentPC says its own configured version is offered with up to 8 TB of storage. The company also notes that the system is affected by ongoing shortages in RAM and storage components, which further shape what buyers can expect at launch.
| Key Hardware | Specification | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Processor options | Ryzen 5 9600X / Ryzen 7 9700X | Zen 5 desktop CPUs |
| Memory support | Up to 96 GB DDR5-6400 | Motherboard specification |
| Storage support | 2× M.2 PCIe 4.0, 2× SATA | Up to 16 TB NVMe and 16 TB SATA |
| Network | Gigabit Ethernet | Wired only by default |
Ports stay focused on wired use
The port selection is modest and leans heavily on cable-based connections. It includes one USB-A 3.2 10 Gbps port, two USB-A 5 Gbps ports, one USB-C 3.2 10 Gbps port, an audio jack, HDMI 2.1, and DisplayPort 1.4.
Video output runs through the integrated Radeon graphics in the platform, which has two cores. For networking, SilentPC includes only Gigabit Ethernet through the Realtek RTL8111H already on the motherboard, while wireless can be added later via an M.2 2230 module.
Why the entry price is so high
The starting price is $3,350, and SilentPC says that is already difficult to justify for a mini PC. The base package includes the ASRock motherboard, a Ryzen 5 9600X, 32 GB of Crucial DDR5-5600 memory, a Samsung 990 PRO 1 TB NVMe SSD, a Windows 11 Home license, and a 1-year warranty.
That pricing reflects a rare mix of sealed construction, passive cooling, and desktop-class Zen 5 hardware. It is clearly aimed at users who need durability in demanding environments, not at buyers looking for a conventional mini PC for everyday desk use.
