Xiaomi 17T Counters Poco F8 Pro’s Lower Price With 5x Zoom and Larger Battery

Xiaomi 17T takes a different route from the lower-priced Poco F8 Pro by offering a 50 MP periscope telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom and a 6,500 mAh battery. Those features give it a clear appeal for buyers who value long-range photography and battery capacity over the lowest entry price.

Poco F8 Pro costs Rp 8.599.000 with 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage. Xiaomi 17T starts at Rp 8.999.000 for the 12 GB and 256 GB version, while a 512 GB option is also available.

Different priorities in power and charging

The Xiaomi 17T has a 6,500 mAh battery, exceeding the 6,210 mAh capacity in the Poco F8 Pro. Both phones support 22.5-watt reverse charging for powering other devices.

Poco F8 Pro responds with 100-watt fast charging, while Xiaomi 17T supports 67-watt charging. This makes the Poco model the more suitable option for users focused on reducing charging time.

Xiaomi 17T expands the camera advantage

The telephoto cameras on both devices have 50 MP resolution, but Xiaomi 17T uses a periscope design with 5x optical zoom. Poco F8 Pro has a 50 MP telephoto camera with 2.5x optical zoom.

Xiaomi 17T also combines a 50 MP main camera, a 12 MP ultrawide camera, and a 32 MP front camera. Poco F8 Pro has a 50 MP main camera, an 8 MP ultrawide camera, and a 20 MP front camera.

According to Kompas Tekno, photography is one of the Xiaomi 17T’s focal points through its Leica collaboration on the telephoto camera. The phone therefore offers both a longer optical reach and higher-resolution supporting cameras.

Poco F8 Pro emphasizes flagship-oriented performance

Poco F8 Pro is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite built on a 3 nm process. Xiaomi 17T uses the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra built on a 4 nm process.

Both models use 12 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage. The stated Poco F8 Pro configuration includes 512 GB, giving it a stronger value proposition against the Xiaomi 17T’s Rp 8.999.000 starting variant with 256 GB.

The display specifications are close, with both phones carrying 6.59-inch screens, a 120 Hz refresh rate, and peak brightness of up to 3,500 nits. Poco F8 Pro uses a 2K AMOLED panel, while Xiaomi 17T uses an OLED panel of the same size.

Similar durability, different connectivity details

Both devices have IP68 dust and water resistance, Dual SIM support, 5G, USB-C, NFC, Android 16, HyperOS 3, and stereo speakers. Poco F8 Pro measures 157.5 x 75.3 x 8 mm and weighs 199 grams, while Xiaomi 17T measures 157.6 x 75.2 x 8.2 mm and weighs 200 grams.

Poco F8 Pro adds WiFi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, an infrared blaster, and an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner. Xiaomi 17T offers WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 6.0, and an in-display fingerprint scanner.

The comparison separates buyers by priority rather than by a single overall winner. Poco F8 Pro offers a lower price, 512 GB storage, Snapdragon 8 Elite performance, and faster charging, while Xiaomi 17T focuses on 5x zoom, larger battery capacity, and stronger secondary cameras.
