Indonesia is set to become Acerpure’s second subsidiary market after India, underscoring Acer’s deeper move beyond computers and technology devices. The company is using air conditioners as a key entry point for its expansion into large home appliances across Southeast Asia.
The move gives Indonesia a central role in Acerpure’s longer-term regional strategy. Acerpure plans to establish Acerpure Indonesia as a local subsidiary, rather than limiting its presence to product sales.
A Local Company for a Longer-Term Plan
Andrew Hou, President of Acer Pan-Asia Pacific Operations, announced the decision during a media interview at the Acerpure Chill launch in Bali on Wednesday, 15/7. He said the new subsidiary reflects the company’s commitment to the domestic market.
“This shows our commitment and our desire to build trust in this brand,” Hou said. Mediaindonesia.com reported that India had become Acerpure’s first subsidiary market two years earlier.
Acerpure is headquartered in Taipei, Taiwan. Indonesia will therefore become the company’s second subsidiary location after its headquarters and the Indian operation.
Creating a local legal entity signals a broader objective than distributing products. It positions Indonesia as an operational base for Acerpure’s brand development in Southeast Asia.
Why Air Conditioners Come First
Acerpure CEO Stanley Kao said major home appliances had been part of the company’s plan from the beginning. The company aims to develop Acerpure into a global home-appliance brand from Taiwan.
Hot weather across Southeast Asia has made air conditioners a particularly relevant category for the region. Kao described air conditioning as the largest business segment within home appliances in this market.
| Product Category | Market or Coverage | Stated Timing |
|---|---|---|
| Televisions | India | 2024 |
| Air conditioners | Several countries | 2025 |
| Other major home appliances | Indonesia | In the near future |
The company began its large-appliance expansion with television launches in India in 2024. It then introduced air conditioners in several countries in 2025.
Indonesia is expected to receive additional major home-appliance variants in the near future. Acerpure has not yet disclosed the specific models or additional product categories planned for the country.
Service Network as a Competitive Asset
The television and air-conditioner markets already include many established brands. Acerpure says it will compete through innovative products, modern designs aimed at younger consumers, and Acer’s after-sales service network.
Acer has operated a nationwide after-sales service network in Indonesia for 26 years. The company sees that existing infrastructure as an important asset as Acerpure expands from small household devices into televisions, air conditioners, and other larger categories.
Part of Acer’s Four New Business Pillars
The home-appliance push forms part of a wider business restructuring as Acer approaches its 50th year. Acer headquarters has identified four new business pillars for its future development.
| Business Pillar | Focus |
|---|---|
| Industrial computers | Industrial computers, or IPC |
| Medical AI | Artificial intelligence applications in medical fields |
| Energy | Energy business |
| Home appliances | Household appliances for global markets |
Among those pillars, home appliances are being developed as a global business line through Acerpure. The strategy broadens Acer’s potential growth sources beyond the computing identity that has long defined the company.
