Samsung Expands One UI 8.5 To 40+ Galaxy Models, Bringing A Broader AI And UI Refresh

Samsung’s One UI 8.5 is no longer limited to the newest flagship phones. The update is now rolling out to more than 40 Galaxy models, widening access far beyond the latest premium devices and bringing interface changes and AI improvements to a much larger user base.

The launch began in Korea first, with other regions set to follow in mid-May. Samsung said the rollout starts today, but users should expect a staggered release rather than a universal update arriving at once.

A broader rollout across Galaxy phones

Samsung’s initial lineup covers the Galaxy S series in a wide sweep. That includes the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra, along with the Galaxy S25 FE and Galaxy S25 Edge.

The company is also extending One UI 8.5 to the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S23 families. Those lists include the Plus, Ultra, and FE variants, which means two previous generations of flagship phones are part of the early wave.

Foldables and tablets are included too

The update is not limited to traditional smartphones. Samsung is also preparing One UI 8.5 for the Galaxy Z Fold7, Z Fold6, and Z Fold5, as well as the Galaxy Z Flip7, Z Flip6, and Z Flip5.

Tablets are part of the same plan. The first devices named include the Galaxy Tab S11 and Tab S11 Ultra, plus the Galaxy Tab S10, Tab S10+, and Tab S10 Ultra, together with the Galaxy Tab S9, Tab S9+, and Tab S9 Ultra.

Galaxy A models get wider access

Samsung is also pushing the update into its Galaxy A lineup, reaching from entry-level to midrange devices. The early list includes the Galaxy A07, A17, A37, and A57, along with the Galaxy A06, A16, A26, A36, and A56.

Other models in the same family are also part of the rollout, including the Galaxy A05, A15, A25, A35, and A55. That makes the software release notable not just for flagship owners, but also for users of more affordable Galaxy phones that make up a large share of Samsung’s lineup.

What changes with One UI 8.5

Samsung is using One UI 8.5 to refresh parts of the software experience. The update brings UI changes that include new menus and an updated navigation bar, giving the interface a different look and feel.

AI also gets attention in this release. Samsung is adding Photo Assist for improving AI-generated images, while Bixby is being updated with smarter capabilities.

Rollout will take time

Even though the update has started, it will not reach every compatible device immediately. Samsung said it may take several months before One UI 8.5 becomes available across the full supported lineup.

That timeline is consistent with a release of this scale, especially when more than 40 phones and tablets are involved. With models spanning the latest Galaxy S devices, older flagships, foldables, tablets, and the Galaxy A series, Samsung is spreading the update widely while keeping the process gradual.

Before this wider expansion, the Galaxy S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra had already launched with One UI 8.5. The current rollout now brings that software experience to a much broader set of Galaxy owners, with interface refinements and AI features leading the upgrade.
