Spotify is preparing a new way for listeners to turn text prompts into private podcasts without recording a single word. The feature, called Personal Podcast, will generate AI-made episodes inside the Spotify app and keep them for personal use rather than public release.
The idea is built around convenience and personalization. Users will be able to describe the podcast they want by typing a prompt, and Spotify will create an episode that matches the request.
Text prompts, not a studio setup
Personal Podcast is meant to simplify audio creation dramatically. Instead of needing recording equipment, editing tools, or a production workflow, users only need to enter a prompt in the app.
Spotify plans to make the feature available directly within its own app. That means there is no need to switch to a separate service before generating an episode.
More context for more precise results
The system is not limited to a single text prompt. Spotify also allows users to add extra context from links, PDF files, plain text, and other sources.
That flexibility is meant to make the output more relevant to the listener’s needs. If the first version does not fit, the prompt can be adjusted and refined again.
Spotify also says users will be able to choose different voices for the AI-generated podcast. That gives listeners control not only over the subject matter, but also over how the podcast sounds.
Private content in Your Library
A key part of the feature is its private nature. Episodes created through Personal Podcast are not designed as public uploads and will instead remain accessible through Your Library.
That approach turns the podcast into a personal listening tool rather than a mass-distribution format. Users can create highly specific episodes for their own use without publishing them for others.
Spotify also says the output will reflect each user’s interests and listening habits. In practice, that means the system will not rely only on prompts, but also on how the listener already consumes audio.
Built for routine updates
Spotify is also planning scheduled formats, including daily briefings and weekly roundups. These recurring options make the feature more than a one-time experiment.
For users who want a regular update on certain topics, a scheduled AI podcast could become part of a daily habit. It gives Personal Podcast a role beyond casual use and turns it into something that can refresh itself over time.
Premium launch and credit system
Spotify says Personal Podcast will begin rolling out to Premium subscribers in the United States starting in June. The early release means the feature will not be available to all Spotify users globally at launch.
The company is also preparing a monthly credit system for podcast creation. Users will receive a fixed number of credits each month, and additional credits can be purchased if the allowance is not enough.
That setup shows Spotify is treating AI podcast generation as a managed usage feature, not an unlimited one. For now, the focus is on in-app access, personal customization, and flexible control over both the content and voice of each episode.
