ThinkPad E14 and E16 are getting a notable refresh that focuses on the parts users feel every day. Lenovo is bringing 120Hz displays and newer Intel Core Ultra processors to two business laptops that still sit in a more accessible price range.
That combination gives the ThinkPad E series a stronger position in the work laptop market. Instead of changing the design dramatically, Lenovo has concentrated on upgrades that matter most during long hours of reading, multitasking, and switching between applications.
Displays take the spotlight
The ThinkPad E14 stands out most clearly with its 14-inch 2.8K panel running at 120Hz. Lenovo pairs it with 500 nits of brightness, full sRGB coverage, an anti-glare coating, and low blue light certification.
The ThinkPad E16 follows a similar direction with a larger 16-inch screen. It uses a 2.5K 120Hz panel with 400 nits of brightness, which still places it among the more capable displays typically associated with premium laptops.
Those screen choices are the main reason this refresh feels different. Higher resolution and a faster refresh rate should make everyday work feel smoother, especially when handling documents, browsing, or moving across multiple windows.
Core Ultra options and storage flexibility
Lenovo is offering several configurations for both models, including versions with up to Intel Core Ultra 9. At the top end, the laptops can be equipped with 32GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD.
Both machines support PCIe 4.0 SSDs, and Lenovo has included two M.2 slots. That gives users more room to expand storage without relying on external drives right away.
Battery capacity is also shared across the lineup. Each model comes with a 64Wh battery, and Lenovo says battery life can reach around 13 hours depending on workload and configuration.
ThinkPad identity remains intact
Even with the upgrades, Lenovo has kept the familiar ThinkPad traits in place. The classic ThinkPad keyboard and TrackPoint are still part of the package, preserving the experience that many business users already expect from the brand.
The port selection is also practical. Both laptops include Thunderbolt 4, USB-A, HDMI 2.1, Ethernet, and a headphone jack, which reduces the need for dongles in office use.
That matters for everyday work scenarios such as presentations, wired networking, older USB accessories, and audio devices. The lineup remains focused on practicality rather than chasing a thinner port selection.
Two sizes for different work styles
ThinkPad E14 is the more portable option in the pair. It measures around 15.25 mm thick and weighs about 1.34 kg, making it easier to carry for users who move around often.
ThinkPad E16 is larger and heavier, with a weight of around 1.63 kg. For a 16-inch laptop, that remains reasonable and gives it the advantage of a wider workspace on screen.
The size split creates a clear choice. E14 leans toward mobility, while E16 is aimed at users who want more room for productivity.
Pricing and availability in China
Lenovo has already opened pre-orders for both models in China, with launch scheduled for 27 May. The ThinkPad E16 with Core Ultra 9 185H, 32GB RAM, and a 1TB SSD is priced at 8999 yuan.
The ThinkPad E14 with the same Core Ultra 9 185H, 32GB RAM, and 1TB SSD configuration costs 7999 yuan. Lenovo also lists an E14 variant with Core Ultra 5 336H, 32GB RAM, and 1TB SSD at 9499 yuan, plus another version with Core Ultra 7 356H, 32GB RAM, and 1TB SSD at 11999 yuan.
With these updates, the ThinkPad E14 and E16 push harder into the business laptop segment by focusing on the features that are easiest to notice in daily use. Better displays, modern connectivity, and storage expansion options make the series more competitive while keeping the ThinkPad character intact.
