Spotify is preparing a new AI-powered audio feature that turns a short text prompt into a personal podcast within minutes. The service is designed to let users describe a topic they want to hear about, then have Spotify generate an episode that matches that request.
The feature, called Personal Podcast, expands Spotify’s use of artificial intelligence beyond music recommendations and playlist creation. Instead of only helping listeners find audio content, the platform is now moving toward creating audio content that is tailored to individual needs.
How the new feature works
With Personal Podcast, a user only needs to type a topic description. Spotify’s AI system then processes the request and produces a podcast episode based on that theme.
The range of possible topics is broad. Spotify is opening the feature to daily news summaries, the latest technology developments, business trends, favorite sports, and other interests that fit a user’s personal needs.
That approach removes much of the usual work involved in making audio content. It also lowers the technical barrier for users who do not have podcast production experience or professional recording equipment.
More than just a text prompt
Personal Podcast is not limited to a short written instruction. Users will also be able to add supporting sources for the AI to use when building the episode.
Spotify says those inputs can include website links, PDF documents, text notes, and other relevant material. With that added context, the resulting podcast is expected to be more informative while staying aligned with the topic the user requested.
That flexibility could make the feature useful for students, professionals, business users, and content creators. A report in PDF format, for example, could be turned into an audio summary that is easier to listen to while traveling.
Scheduled episodes and voice options
Spotify is also preparing a scheduling option so certain podcasts can be generated on a recurring basis. That means users would not only be able to create a single episode, but also set up daily, weekly, or other regular audio updates.
A morning news summary could be created automatically each day. Weekly market reports or monthly technology roundups could also be generated in the same way.
The company is also adding voice flexibility. Users will be able to choose the narration voice used by the AI so the listening experience feels more comfortable and better matched to personal preference.
Private, not public
Although the feature creates podcast-style audio, Spotify says the content remains private. The episodes will not appear publicly and cannot be found by other Spotify users.
All generated podcasts will be accessible only through each user’s Your Library menu. That positions Personal Podcast as a personal information tool rather than a new public podcast publishing platform.
Premium access first
At launch, Personal Podcast will be available to Spotify Premium subscribers in the United States. Spotify will also apply a monthly credit system for the feature.
Each user will receive a set number of credits to spend on AI-generated podcast creation. If those credits run out, additional credits can be purchased to continue using the service.
Spotify has scheduled the rollout for June 2026. With that timeline, Personal Podcast could become one of the platform’s most notable AI features, offering a faster and more personal way to consume information in audio form.
