Xiaomi’s latest Mijia accessory shows that a business backpack does not need to look bulky to carry serious everyday gear. The Mijia Minimalist Business Backpack keeps a clean, slim profile while still making room for a 16-inch laptop, an 11.2-inch tablet, and several work essentials in a neatly divided layout.
The bag is aimed at commuters who want a professional look without giving up practical storage. Xiaomi positions it for users who need to separate work devices from personal items while avoiding the oversized, technical appearance common in many laptop backpacks.
13 storage points in a compact shell
One of the backpack’s main selling points is its 13 storage points. Xiaomi uses that space to keep smaller items organized instead of leaving them loose in one large compartment.
The layout includes a velvet-lined pocket for glasses, a water-resistant side pocket for a wet umbrella or a water bottle, and a zippered slot for an ID card, badge, and pen. Xiaomi also gives the laptop section a suspended base design to help protect devices from direct impact when the bag is placed down.
The laptop compartment supports notebooks up to 16 inches, while the tablet slot has padding and fits devices up to 11.2 inches. Together, those spaces make the backpack suitable for users carrying multiple devices during a normal workday.
Built for short trips as well as office use
Xiaomi says the main compartment has enough room for a change of clothes, which gives the bag a 14-liter capacity. That makes it useful beyond office commuting and adds some flexibility for short trips.
The backpack also includes a luggage pass-through strap on the back. That detail lets it sit on a rolling suitcase handle, which is practical for travelers who move between airports, trains, and hotels with minimal gear.
To improve comfort, Xiaomi uses S-shaped shoulder straps that help distribute weight more evenly. The back panel combines foam with a honeycomb mesh structure, which is designed to support airflow and reduce heat buildup during daily use.
A firmer frame than a typical commuter bag
Instead of using a soft, collapsible body, Xiaomi gave the backpack a more rigid internal structure. A manganese steel plate helps the bag keep its shape and remain upright even when it is not fully loaded.
That design choice makes the backpack easier to use in office settings, where a bag that stands on its own can be more convenient to access. It also keeps the silhouette neat when the bag is placed on the floor or carried through a busy commute.
Physically, the Mijia Minimalist Business Backpack measures 290 x 120 x 400 mm and weighs 0.86 kg. Xiaomi uses high-density polyester for the outer shell and lists the exterior with a Level 4 water-resistance rating, which is intended for light rain and splashes.
Colors and pricing
The backpack is now listed on Xiaomi’s Youpin platform. Its crowdfunding starting price is set at 149 yuan, before rising to a regular retail price of 199 yuan.
Xiaomi offers the bag in three neutral colors: Charcoal Black, Light Gray, and Beige. The palette matches the product’s restrained design and keeps it suitable for both business and casual use.
