Samsung’s next premium foldable is starting to look more complete in leaked hands-on material. The latest images of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra suggest a device that stays familiar, but sharpens the details that matter most to buyers.
The biggest visible change is on the front. The cover display appears to have much thinner bezels than the Galaxy Z Fold 7, making the screen look more expansive and the overall design more modern.
A closer look at the design
The leaked images and video were shared by X user Fahad Ali Javed (@fahadalijaved), who claimed the device shown is the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. The phone appears in both folded and unfolded states, alongside what looks like Samsung’s official wallpaper set.
The cover screen uses a punch-hole camera cutout, while the power button and volume keys sit on the right side of the body. That layout follows the familiar Galaxy Fold approach, but the slimmer front framing gives the device a cleaner appearance.
Samsung also appears to be leaning on a consistent visual identity across the device. The wallpapers seen on the outer display and main screen use the same wave-like theme, adding to the premium impression.
Launch timing appears to be close
The leak arrives as the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is said to be moving through regulatory approval. That step often signals that a product is nearing its final stage before an official reveal.
Current chatter points to a launch next month, with Samsung expected to introduce the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra at Galaxy Unpacked on 22 July. A regular Galaxy Z Fold 8 is also said to be part of the same event.
The addition of an Ultra model suggests Samsung may be preparing a broader strategy for its high-end foldable lineup. It also hints that the company wants to create a more distinct premium tier above the standard Fold version.
Reported specifications point to a flagship upgrade
Beyond the design leak, previous reports have outlined the hardware Samsung may be preparing. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is said to use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset.
The cover display is reportedly a 6.5-inch M14 panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. Inside, the main foldable screen is said to measure 8.0 inches and also support 120Hz.
If accurate, that combination would keep the device focused on a practical outer screen and a spacious inner panel. It is the kind of setup that suits users who want quick one-handed use outside and a larger workspace when opened.
Cameras, battery, and thickness
The rear camera system is said to include three sensors: a 200-megapixel main camera, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and a 10-megapixel telephoto camera.
For selfies, the device is rumored to carry two 10-megapixel front cameras. That means Samsung is expected to keep camera flexibility for both folded and unfolded use.
The battery is reported to be 5,000mAh, with 45W wired charging and 25W wireless charging. The device is also tipped to measure 4.1mm when unfolded, underscoring Samsung’s push for a thinner premium foldable.
All of these details still need official confirmation from Samsung. For now, the leak suggests the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is shaping up as a slimmer, more polished foldable with a flagship chipset, large 120Hz displays, and high-resolution cameras.
