Redmi 17C enters the budget phone segment with a mix of features that are becoming harder to find in its price class. Xiaomi has kept the 3.5 mm headphone jack, paired it with a 5,160 mAh battery, and added a 120 Hz display for everyday use.
The phone also stands out because Xiaomi skipped the Redmi 16C name and moved directly from Redmi 15C to Redmi 17C. That positioning makes the device look less like a routine update and more like a deliberate push to offer practical features at an accessible price.
Display built for smooth daily use
Redmi 17C uses a 6.88-inch LCD panel with HD Plus resolution at 720 x 1,640 pixels. The screen supports a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz and a 240 Hz touch sampling rate.
Xiaomi also adds DC Dimming, a 600 nits peak brightness level, and TÜV Rheinland eye protection certification. The combination suggests that the phone is designed not only for size, but also for more comfortable viewing over long periods.
Battery and charging remain practical
Battery life is one of the phone’s clearest strengths. Redmi 17C comes with a 5,160 mAh battery and supports 18W fast charging.
In the entry-level category, that capacity gives the device a straightforward appeal for users who want longer use between charges. The presence of the 3.5 mm audio port reinforces that practical focus, especially as many newer phones continue to remove wired audio support.
Helio G81 Ultra powers the device
For performance, Xiaomi relies on the MediaTek Helio G81 Ultra chipset with clock speeds up to 2 GHz. The phone is paired with 4 GB of RAM and up to 128 GB of internal storage.
Redmi 17C also supports dual SIM use. On the software side, it runs HyperOS 3, although Xiaomi does not specify the Android version used on the device.
Simple cameras, more expressive design
The camera setup is modest, as expected for an entry-level model. Xiaomi equips Redmi 17C with a 13 MP rear camera and a 5 MP front camera.
The rear module is styled to look more complex than the hardware underneath it. Its circular housing resembles a four-lens layout, but only one area is used for the LED flash while the rest is decorative.
Connectivity and physical features
Redmi 17C includes a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for quick unlocking. It also supports 4G, WiFi 5, and Bluetooth 5.4, keeping the device aligned with everyday connectivity needs.
The phone does not move into 5G territory, but its feature set remains focused on the basics. That approach fits a model aimed at communication, light entertainment, and long battery endurance rather than aggressive top-end specifications.
Price and color options
In China, Redmi 17C is available in three color options. The red version uses a faux leather-like texture, while the black and white variants come with a glossy finish.
Pricing starts at 799 yuan for the 4 GB/64 GB model and rises to 899 yuan for the 4 GB/128 GB version. Xiaomi has not announced global availability yet, including any official launch plans for Indonesia.
