Apple’s latest price move has changed the way the Mac Mini M4 is judged, especially in India. The model that once stood out as one of Apple’s best-value computers now starts at 94,900 rupees, up from 59,900 rupees.
That 35,000 rupees jump, or about 58.43%, has sharply reduced the appeal of a device that was easy to recommend before the increase. The question is no longer whether the Mac Mini M4 is powerful enough, but whether its new price still makes sense for the right buyer.
Value Has Taken the Biggest Hit
The Mac Mini M4 has not lost its performance advantage, but it has clearly lost part of its price charm. At the previous price, it was hard to ignore because it offered Apple Silicon performance at a relatively accessible entry point.
With the revised cost, that simple value equation no longer holds as strongly. Buyers looking only at entry-level price-to-performance will find it much less compelling than before, especially since the base 16GB/256GB configuration has become far more expensive without any hardware update.
Still A Strong Desktop For Demanding Work
Despite the higher price, the Mac Mini M4 remains a capable desktop machine. It comes with a 10-core CPU and GPU, along with a 16-core Neural Engine for Apple Intelligence.
Those components keep it relevant for heavy productivity tasks and creative workloads. In other words, the machine itself is still strong; the challenge is that the new price weakens the sense of value around it.
For users who already own a monitor, keyboard, and mouse, the Mac Mini M4 can still be a practical way to enter the current Apple Silicon generation. In that setup, the compact desktop remains a reasonable investment for people who specifically want macOS.
Why It Still Matters Inside Apple’s Lineup
Even after the price revision, the Mac Mini M4 remains Apple’s cheapest gateway to current-generation Apple Silicon performance. That matters because the rest of Apple’s refreshed desktop and laptop options now sit much higher.
The base MacBook Air M5 is priced at 1,49,900 rupees, while the MacBook Pro M5 reaches 2,39,900 rupees. Compared with those figures, the Mac Mini M4 still sits at a much lower level, which keeps it relevant for buyers trying to stay within the Apple ecosystem.
This comparison also explains why the device has not become irrelevant. Many buyers are not searching for the absolute lowest-cost computer; they are trying to balance macOS access, Apple integration, and enough performance for everyday professional use.
Who Should Still Consider It
The strongest case for the Mac Mini M4 is for users who want macOS in a desktop format and already have the necessary accessories. It is also a sensible option for productivity-focused users and content creators who care more about stable performance and software needs than the upfront price jump.
For casual home users who only need a basic PC, the higher price makes the machine much harder to justify. In that segment, Windows mini-PCs now look more practical, and waiting for third-party retail discounts may be the smarter move.
Broader market pressure may also be part of the reason the price moved so sharply. Rising demand for AI data centers is said to be pushing up RAM and storage costs, and that trend appears to be affecting consumer devices as well.
So while the Mac Mini M4 remains a strong desktop, it is no longer the easy recommendation it once was. The appeal is still there, but it now belongs to buyers who are willing to pay more carefully for the right Apple machine rather than to anyone simply looking for a bargain.
