Moto Tag 2 Pushes Tracking Accuracy Further, With Battery Life Beyond 500 Days

Motorola has introduced Moto Tag 2 globally as a new Android accessory for tracking personal items. The compact device is designed to help users locate keys, wallets, bags, and suitcases with greater precision.

The biggest draw is not only its location accuracy, but also its endurance. Motorola says Moto Tag 2 can last more than 500 days on a single CR2032 coin-cell battery, which users can replace themselves without much effort.

Closer-range tracking gets a sharper edge

Moto Tag 2 uses Ultra Wideband, or UWB, to show direction and distance more accurately when an item is nearby. For short-range connectivity, it also relies on Bluetooth 6.0 with Channel Sounding.

When the missing item is farther away, the tracker shifts to Google Find Hub, allowing its position to remain searchable through other Android devices. The device requires Android 9 or later to work.

Designed for everyday convenience

Through the Moto Tag app, users can adjust the sound volume, check remaining battery life, and change the ringtone. Motorola also adds a physical button on the device, which can make the connected smartphone ring.

The same button doubles as a remote shutter for taking photos from a distance. In addition, the tracker supports real-time location sharing with trusted contacts.

Security features aim to reduce misuse

Motorola has placed security at the center of Moto Tag 2’s design. The device includes end-to-end encryption and unwanted tracking alerts to help reduce the risk of being used as a stalking tool.

The warning system activates automatically if an unfamiliar tracker is detected following a user’s movement. That gives users faster notification when there is a possibility of unwanted tracking.

Water resistance and pricing

For physical durability, Moto Tag 2 carries an IP68 certification. That means it is protected against dust and can withstand freshwater immersion up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes.

Motorola is offering Moto Tag 2 in Pantone Arabesque and Pantone Laurel Oak. In the United States, pricing starts at US$19.99, while a four-unit bundle is sold for US$69.99.

The new tracker combines longer battery life, sharper nearby tracking, and built-in anti-abuse safeguards in a compact package. For Android users who want a small accessory with practical everyday functions, Moto Tag 2 is positioned as a straightforward option.
