The Indonesian smartphone market is entering a more aggressive phase, with mid-range devices now carrying features that were once reserved for premium phones. High-refresh displays, large batteries, fast charging, and stronger camera systems are increasingly becoming the main battleground.

That shift is changing how buyers compare devices. Instead of focusing on chipset power alone, consumers are now looking at endurance, display quality, and long-term value in a segment that has become far more crowded.

Display and battery have become the new pressure points

Several models already sold in Indonesia show how far the competition has moved. The Infinix GT50 Pro 5G, for example, pairs a MediaTek Dimensity 8400 chip with up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage.

It uses a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with an adaptive refresh rate of up to 144Hz. The phone also includes a 50MP main camera with OIS, an 8MP autofocus ultrawide camera, a 13MP front camera, and a 6,500mAh battery with 45W fast charging.

Another Infinix model, the Note 60 Pro, takes a different route with a more distinctive design. Its aluminum frame and Matrix Display with RGB notification lighting help it stand out from many rivals in the same class.

It is equipped with a 6.78-inch 1.5K AMOLED panel, a 144Hz refresh rate, and peak brightness of up to 4,500 nits. The device runs on Snapdragon 7s Gen 4, offers up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, and combines a 50MP OIS main camera with a 6,500mAh battery and 90W fast charging.

Model Chipset Display Battery / Charging
Infinix GT50 Pro 5G MediaTek Dimensity 8400 6.78-inch AMOLED, up to 144Hz 6,500mAh, 45W
Infinix Note 60 Pro Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 6.78-inch 1.5K AMOLED, 144Hz, up to 4,500 nits 6,500mAh, 90W
Samsung Galaxy A57 Exynos 1680, 4nm 6.7-inch Super AMOLED, FHD+, 120Hz 5,000mAh, 45W
Poco X8 Pro Max MediaTek Dimensity 9500S 6.83-inch AMOLED, 1.5K, up to 3,500 nits 8,500mAh silicon-carbon, 100W

Samsung and Poco are pushing the mid-range harder

Samsung continues to rely on the Galaxy A series, and the Galaxy A57 remains central to that strategy. The phone comes with a 6.7-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED display, a 120Hz refresh rate, and the Exynos 1680 built on a 4nm process.

Samsung has also prepared the Galaxy A57 with up to 12GB of RAM and storage reaching 512GB. Its camera setup includes a 50MP main sensor with OIS, a 12MP ultrawide camera, an 8MP macro camera, and a 32MP front camera.

The battery is 5,000mAh and supports 45W fast charging. For buyers who think long term, Samsung still leans on the combination of AMOLED quality, OIS stabilization, and the software update support that has long been a major strength of the A series.

Poco is taking a different route with the X8 Pro, which uses the Dimensity 8500 Ultra and offers up to 12GB of RAM plus 512GB of storage. Its 6.59-inch AMOLED display has Full HD+ resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protection.

The Poco X8 Pro is backed by a 6,500mAh battery and 100W fast charging. That combination places it in a strong position for users who want quick top-ups and dependable mobility throughout the day.

The premium edge is now defined by battery technology

The Poco X8 Pro Max is the most premium model in the group. It comes with the MediaTek Dimensity 9500S, 12GB of RAM, up to 512GB of UFS 4.1 storage, and a 6.83-inch AMOLED panel with 1.5K resolution and peak brightness up to 3,500 nits.

Its battery is the most ambitious specification here, using a 8,500mAh silicon-carbon cell with 100W HyperCharge and 27W reverse charging. That mix signals how the industry is trying to improve battery life without making devices significantly thicker.

iQOO also adds another direction with the Z11 5G. It pairs a 9,200mAh battery with Snapdragon 7s Gen 4, up to 12GB of RAM, 256GB of internal storage, and a 6.73-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate.

The phone also carries a 50MP main camera and a 32MP front camera that can record video up to 4K. In practice, that makes the Z11 5G part of the same push toward larger batteries and more capable imaging in the mid-range.

Specialized features are becoming more common

Tecno Camon 50 Pro adds another layer to the competition with a 6.78-inch 1.5K AMOLED display and a 144Hz refresh rate. It uses Dimensity 7400 Ultimate, offers 8GB to 12GB of RAM, and provides up to 512GB of storage.

Its battery is around 6,500mAh and supports 45W fast charging. The main differentiator is its telephoto camera, a feature that is still uncommon in the mid-range and gives users more flexibility when shooting distant subjects.

With these devices in play, the direction of the Indonesian smartphone market is becoming easier to see. Buyers are no longer choosing only by raw performance, because the strongest contenders now combine fast displays, large batteries, quicker charging, and more complete camera systems in a single package.
