The standard Poco X8 may not have been cancelled after all, as new HyperOS code reportedly points to an unreleased model still in development. Its most notable rumored specification is a battery as large as 9,000mAh, which could be reserved for India.
The device has not been announced by Poco, so its battery capacity and final hardware remain unconfirmed. Still, the reported code discovery suggests the regular model could join the Poco X8 Pro and Poco X8 Pro Max already introduced by the brand.
A Possible India and Global Split
The battery claim is tied to the reported regional strategy for the Redmi Note 17 Pro. The China version is said to use a 9,000mAh battery, while the global version is expected to receive an 8,340mAh unit.
| Model | Reported Market | Battery Capacity | Information Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Redmi Note 17 Pro | China | 9,000mAh | Reportedly available in China |
| Redmi Note 17 Pro global version | Global | 8,340mAh | Expected |
| Poco X8 | India or global | 9,000mAh or 8,340mAh | Rumored |
It remains unclear whether Poco will use the same split for the Poco X8. If it does, the India edition could retain the 9,000mAh battery, while a global edition may use the smaller 8,340mAh cell.
Hardware Expected From Redmi Note 17 Pro
Leaker Kacper Skrzypek said the Poco X8 may feature a 50MP main rear camera alongside a 2MP secondary sensor. That arrangement is said to resemble the Redmi Note 17 Pro sold in China, reinforcing suggestions that the Poco device could be a rebadged version.
Gizmochina reported that Skrzypek identified the device details through HyperOS system code. The rumored Poco camera setup differs from the global Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G, which is said to include an 8MP ultrawide camera.
The Poco X8 is also expected to have an 8MP front camera for selfies and video calls. Memory configurations have not been disclosed in the available leak.
Large AMOLED Display and Fast Charging
Beyond the battery, the phone is expected to use a 6.83-inch AMOLED display with 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The reported combination would place a large, high-refresh panel alongside the device’s unusually large battery claim.
Its processor is rumored to be the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4. The leak also points to 67W fast charging and 22.5W reverse charging support.
No launch date or sales regions have been confirmed for the Poco X8. There is also no indication whether it will arrive alongside the Poco M8 Power, another device expected to be a rebadged version of the China Redmi Note 17.
Until Poco provides official confirmation, the model name, regional battery capacities, and other specifications should be treated as preliminary information. The HyperOS listing nevertheless indicates that the regular Poco X8 may still be part of the company’s plans.
