Samsung’s Galaxy A27 5G pairs a newer Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 processor with a notable reduction in water protection. The new model carries an IP64 rating, replacing the IP67 certification available on the Galaxy A26 5G.
That change matters more than a specification-sheet detail for buyers who regularly use a phone outdoors or around water. IP64 covers dust and water splashes from different directions, while it is not intended to protect the device from immersion.
A Clear Trade-Off in Protection
The Galaxy A26 is described as dust-resistant and capable of withstanding immersion in water up to 1 metre deep for 30 minutes under its IP67 certification. The Galaxy A27’s IP64 rating offers more limited protection against dust and splashes.
Display protection has also changed between the two generations. The Galaxy A26 uses Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+, while the Galaxy A27 is listed with standard glass without a specified type.

Performance Is the Main Upgrade
The Samsung Galaxy A27 5G moves away from the 5nm Exynos 1380 used by the Galaxy A26 and adopts the 4nm Snapdragon 6 Gen 3. The newer manufacturing process is positioned to provide improved power efficiency.
The handset also uses LPDDR5X RAM. Gadget.viva.co.id states that this memory can deliver data transfers up to 50 percent faster, with multitasking and lighter gaming among the intended benefits.
For new buyers, this combination gives the Galaxy A27 a stronger performance-focused proposition. Existing Galaxy A26 owners, however, may need to weigh those gains against the changes to durability and camera resolution.
A More Modern Front Design
The Galaxy A27 replaces the Galaxy A26’s Infinity-U notch with an Infinity-O display and a punch-hole front camera. Samsung also claims the bezels are 2.1 mm thinner, although both phones retain a 6.7-inch screen.
Its rear camera arrangement uses an oval frame, creating a different appearance from the flatter Galaxy A26 design. The two devices continue to share a 5,000 mAh battery and 25W fast charging support.
Secondary Camera Resolution Falls
Both models retain a 50 MP main camera with OIS. The Galaxy A27, however, reduces ultrawide resolution from 8 MP to 5 MP and front camera resolution from 13 MP to 12 MP.
The comparison notes that the lower megapixel figures may be related to cost optimisation or a greater focus on AI processing. It does not provide further detail about resulting photo quality.
Android 16 Out of the Box
The Galaxy A27 launches with Android 16 and One UI 8.5, while the Galaxy A26 is listed with Android 15 and One UI 7. Both phones have the same commitment of six Android generation updates and six years of security patches.
