Redmi K90 Max Debuts With Built-In Cooling Fan, Dimensity 9500 and a Massive 8,550mAh Battery

Redmi has expanded its K90 lineup with a model that puts thermal management and sustained performance at the center of the design. The newly launched Redmi K90 Max sits between the regular Redmi K90 and the Redmi K90 Pro Max, and it stands out immediately because it uses a physical internal cooling fan together with MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500 chipset.

That combination is unusual in this segment and makes the K90 Max look less like a standard mid-premium phone and more like a device built for heavy workloads. Redmi positions it as a premium mid-range model focused on speed, stability, and long sessions of demanding use.

Cooling system takes the spotlight

The biggest talking point is the active cooling setup. Redmi says this is the first model in the K90 family to use an internal fan, and the company also adds a narrow ventilation opening below the camera decoration to improve airflow and heat release.

Redmi claims the high-speed cooling mode can reduce the temperature by up to 10 degrees Celsius in 100 seconds. The thermal design is further supported by an aviation-grade aluminum alloy middle frame, which reinforces the idea that the phone is meant to handle sustained stress, including gaming and other intensive tasks.

Flagship hardware and large memory options

Performance is anchored by the Dimensity 9500, which is paired with up to 16 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1 TB of UFS 4.1 storage. That hardware combination places the K90 Max among devices built for fast data access and aggressive multitasking.

The software side follows the same direction, with HyperOS 3 based on Android 16. Redmi also promises five years of software support, which adds another layer of appeal for users looking for a longer ownership cycle.

Large OLED display built for speed

On the front, the Redmi K90 Max uses a 6.83-inch OLED panel with 1.5K resolution and 12-bit support. The display also offers a 165 Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of up to 3,500 nits, giving the phone a clear focus on gaming and entertainment.

Redmi includes Eye Protection Mode 3.0, full-brightness DC dimming, and 1-nit low brightness to improve viewing comfort. Those features suggest that the display is not only fast and bright, but also tuned for longer use.

Camera setup stays simple

Photography is present, although it is not the main theme of the device. The rear setup includes a 50 MP Light Hunter 950 main camera and an 8 MP ultra-wide camera.

For selfies, the phone carries a 20 MP front camera that supports 1080p video recording at 30 FPS. The camera package is straightforward and clearly secondary to performance and thermal control.

Battery size and charging approach

Power comes from an 8,550mAh battery, which Redmi describes as the largest capacity in the entire K90 series. The battery supports 100W wired charging through USB-C and also offers 22.5W reverse wired charging.

For gaming, the phone includes Bypass Charging so power can flow directly to the system without putting excessive stress on the battery. Wireless charging is not included, which is one of the trade-offs Redmi makes on this model.

Durability and connectivity remain well covered

The K90 Max carries IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K certification, giving it a strong set of water and dust resistance ratings. Other features include an in-display fingerprint sensor, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, GPS, NFC, and dual 5G SIM support.

Redmi has opened pre-orders in China, with pricing starting at 3,199 Chinese yuan for the 12 GB + 256 GB version. The top configuration with 16 GB + 1 TB is priced at 4,699 Chinese yuan, and the available color choices are Space Silver, Shadow Black, and Sky Blue.

With its physical cooling fan, massive battery, 165 Hz OLED display, and Dimensity 9500 chipset, the Redmi K90 Max is clearly tuned for users who care more about sustained performance than about chasing the thinnest possible design.
