A 90Hz display, Android 15 out of the box, and an expected entry-level price are turning HMD Vibe 2 5G into one of the more closely watched budget phones ahead of its India launch. The device is already live on a Flipkart microsite, which means the debut is no longer just a rumor.
That early listing also makes HMD’s direction easier to read. The company appears to be aiming squarely at buyers who want a basic daily phone with clean software, practical hardware, and a spec sheet that looks unusually strong for the segment.
Launch details are already visible, even if the full specs are not
Flipkart’s microsite confirms that HMD Vibe 2 5G is set to arrive in May 2026. HMD has not published a complete official spec sheet yet, so most of the current details still come from leaks.
Even so, the positioning is clear. This is not being shaped as a feature-packed model for enthusiasts, but as a low-cost phone built around the essentials.
Display and core hardware focus on everyday use
According to a leak from @smashx_60 on X, the phone uses a 6.75-inch IPS LCD panel with HD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. That combination should make scrolling and general navigation feel smoother than on the 60Hz screens still common in this price range.
The same leak points to a simple design and a Unisoc T7200 chipset paired with 4GB of RAM. That setup is modest, but it fits the phone’s role as a device for calls, browsing, messaging, and light apps.
Storage and battery are built for practicality
HMD Vibe 2 5G is said to come in 4GB/128GB and 4GB/256GB variants. A microSD slot supporting up to 512GB is also mentioned, which gives the phone a useful storage advantage for its class.
Battery capacity is listed at 5,000mAh, while charging is still expected to stay at 10W. That suggests HMD is prioritizing endurance over fast top-ups, which is a familiar tradeoff in the budget segment.
Cameras and software stand out for the segment
On the back, the leak describes a 50MP main camera with PDAF and an f/1.8 aperture. It is joined by a 0.08MP sensor and an AI Lens, while the front camera is said to be a 5MP unit with an f/2.0 aperture.
The most notable software detail is Android 15 from day one. If that information holds, HMD Vibe 2 5G would arrive with a newer operating system than many phones in the same price bracket.
Extra features and expected pricing keep it competitive
Other reported features include IP52 certification, which would offer basic resistance against dust and splashes. A side-mounted fingerprint sensor is also mentioned, matching the practical design choices usually seen in affordable phones.
The same leak also refers to support for “4.5G band etc.,” although the full connectivity list has not been made public. Pricing is said to start at INR 6,499 for the 4GB/128GB version, while the 4GB/256GB model is expected at INR 7,499.
If those figures prove accurate, HMD Vibe 2 5G will enter the market with a strong value pitch. A 90Hz display, 5,000mAh battery, Android 15, 50MP main camera, and microSD expansion up to 512GB make it a budget handset worth tracking closely as the May 2026 launch window approaches.
