MediaTek Dimensity 9500 and Leica Periscope Zoom Put Xiaomi Civi 6 Pro in Premium Mid-Range Territory

Xiaomi’s Civi line may be preparing for a noticeable shift in identity, and the latest leak points to a model that leans far more heavily into performance than before. The rumored Civi 6 Pro is said to combine a near-flagship chipset, a 1.5K display, and a Leica-branded periscope telephoto camera, which would place it in a more ambitious position within the premium mid-range segment.

That combination stands out because Civi phones have usually been associated with design and imaging appeal first, rather than raw processing power. If these details hold up, Xiaomi appears to be pushing the series closer to a flagship-like experience without moving it fully into the top tier.

A larger display and a stronger chipset

The most prominent leak for the Civi 6 Pro centers on its display and processor. The device is said to feature a 6.83-inch screen with 1.5K resolution, giving it a large panel that should suit media consumption and light productivity use.

The bigger talking point is the rumored MediaTek Dimensity 9500. It is being described as the device’s headline feature because its performance sits near flagship level rather than the usual premium mid-range range.

The chip itself is built on a 3 nm process and reportedly uses eight Cortex X-925 cores with a maximum clock speed of up to 3.73 GHz. It is also said to include an Immortalis-G925 GPU and an advanced NPU with Agentic AI support.

That spec sheet suggests the Civi 6 Pro is being positioned for more than everyday tasks. It also points to stronger gaming potential and better support for AI-driven features, both of which have become more important in higher-end smartphones.

Leica zoom remains a major selling point

Camera hardware is another area where the Civi 6 Pro appears to take a clear step forward. The leak mentions a 50 MP Leica periscope telephoto camera with 5x zoom, which would give the phone a more serious zoom capability than many competitors in its class.

Leica’s continued presence also reinforces Xiaomi’s effort to keep photography central to the Civi identity. Even though the main and ultrawide cameras have not been detailed yet, the addition of a 50 MP periscope unit is enough to make the phone stand out on paper.

The direction here is notable. Rather than relying only on slim design and strong front-camera appeal, Xiaomi seems to be giving the Civi 6 Pro more weight in optical zoom performance as well.

A regular Civi 6 is also in the pipeline

The same leak also points to a standard Civi 6 model alongside the Pro version. This regular variant is said to use a 6.59-inch 1.5K display, making it the more compact option in the lineup.

For performance, the standard model is reportedly powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8500. It is also said to include the same 50 MP Leica periscope telephoto camera with 5x zoom, which would keep camera ambitions high even on the base model.

The Dimensity 8500 is built on a 4 nm process and uses an octa-core Cortex A-725 architecture. It is claimed to reach a maximum clock speed of 3.4 GHz, while also offering 20 percent better power efficiency and 25 percent faster graphics performance than its predecessor.

That places the regular Civi 6 in an interesting spot. The biggest differences between it and the Pro version appear to be display size, processing power, and overall market positioning rather than a complete split in camera direction.

Pricing and launch remain unconfirmed

There is still no official word on launch timing or final pricing. Even so, the same leaker is said to have noted in a Weibo comment that the Civi 6 series will cost above CNY 3,000 in China.

That pricing range would place the lineup in a competitive part of the market. Xiaomi seems to be aiming for a blend of premium design, stronger imaging hardware, and high performance in a package that does not fully enter the top flagship bracket.

If the leak proves accurate, the Civi 6 Pro could become one of the more closely watched phones in the premium mid-range space. Its appeal would not rest on a single feature, but on the way Xiaomi combines a 1.5K display, Dimensity 9500 performance, and Leica periscope zoom in one device.
