Bo Bichette’s Four-Hit Night Buries Mariners, Mets Crush Seattle 7-1

Bo Bichette powered the New York Mets to a 7-1 win over the Seattle Mariners with four hits and three RBIs in Seattle. Freddy Peralta backed the offense with six steady innings, and New York pulled away after breaking a 1-1 tie in the fourth.

Bichette delivered his first four-hit game with the Mets and the 19th of his career after signing a three-year, $126 million contract in the offseason. His key swing came on a broken-bat single to center field that pushed across two runs, and he later added a sacrifice fly in the eighth to extend the lead.

Peralta keeps Seattle in check

Peralta improved to 4-4 after allowing one run on six hits across six innings. He struck out six and handled traffic well, limiting Seattle to 0 for 4 with runners in scoring position.

One of his biggest moments came in the third inning, when he induced a bases-loaded double play grounder from Randy Arozarena. That sequence helped New York avoid an early shift in momentum after J.P. Crawford opened the game with his 10th home run of the season.

Crawford’s solo shot was also his 17th career leadoff homer, which ranks second in Mariners franchise history. Seattle never found a consistent response after that opening burst, and George Kirby was chased after four innings.

Mets build separation late

Jared Young and A.J. Ewing each finished with two hits for New York as the Mets kept pressure on Seattle’s pitching. The offense produced enough support to back a bullpen that handled the final three innings without allowing a hit.

Joe Gerber, Brooks Raley and Luke Weaver each took a turn to close out the game. Their combined effort preserved the lead and kept the Mariners from mounting any late push.

For Seattle, the loss came during a stretch in which the club needed more from the middle of the order after Crawford’s homer. Kirby took the defeat after the Mets made him work through four innings, and New York’s balanced production on both sides of the ball left little room for a comeback.

Mets right-hander Christian Scott was scheduled to start the opener of a three-game series at San Diego on Friday, while Mariners right-hander Bryan Woo was set to face Detroit as Seattle opened a 10-game trip.
