California residents have a limited-time chance to enter California State Parks for free for the rest of the year. Governor Gavin Newsom announced the offer on Tuesday, tying the move to Juneteenth and the nation’s 250th anniversary.
The special version of the Historian Passports normally costs $50 and covers admission for up to four people at more than 30 historic state parks across the Golden State. According to abc30.com, residents can claim the free passes from June 16 through July 6.
How the pass works
| Pass Detail | Information |
|---|---|
| Program | Special free version of the Historian Passports |
| Regular price | $50 |
| Admission limit | Up to 4 people |
| Covered parks | More than 30 historic state parks |
| Claim window | June 16 through July 6 |
| Access period | From Juneteenth through the end of the year |
The free access begins on Juneteenth and continues through the end of the year. That means eligible residents who claim the pass within the window can use it well beyond the summer months.
For families and small groups, the offer opens the door to historic parks without the usual admission cost. The limited claim period is the key detail, since the free pass must be secured between June 16 and July 6.
