Millie Bobby Brown marked Jake Bongiovi’s first Father’s Day with a personal message that made the couple’s parenting dynamic feel a lot clearer. She shared a photo of Bongiovi carrying their infant daughter and wrote, “I knew from the moment we met, you were going to be the best dad.”
Brown also kept the tone affectionate, adding, “We love you too much, Dada.” The note came as the pair continue adjusting to life as new parents after announcing in August 2025 that they had recently adopted their first child.
Online criticism has followed the couple’s early days as parents
Brown and Bongiovi have drawn attention online since becoming parents, especially after viral paparazzi photos prompted criticism that he was not helping enough with shopping bags, strollers, or their daughter. Brown addressed that talk in a teaser for a June appearance on the “Not Gonna Lie” podcast, pushing back on the assumptions made from a few photos.
“Hi, I’m Millie Bobbie Brown and I’m not gonna lie, when did women become incapable of holding their own bags, car seats and stuff?” she said in the clip. She added that people saw her carrying bags and their child and jumped to the conclusion that her husband was not helping, even though, as she put it, she was already ahead and had been planning the outing all night.
Brown says Bongiovi is supportive, and she is capable on her own
Brown said the online reaction clashes with the idea of empowerment that many people claim to support. “We’re all about empowering girls and, ‘You got it’ and ‘You don’t need a man,’” she said, while also stressing that Bongiovi “is the most polite, sweet, will-do-anything-for-me” husband.
She made clear that the issue is not about dependence, but about choice. Brown said he “also knows I’m capable,” and added that she is “not broken,” rejecting the idea that carrying her own things somehow means her husband is not involved.
She also brushed off mom-shaming
Brown said she does not have time for angry comments aimed at her parenting. During the same podcast appearance, she said she can handle criticism about her appearance, but not the constant scrutiny over small decisions like whether her baby is wearing a hat.
She ended her comments with a blunt response to the backlash, telling critics to “stay in your own lane” and “put a sock in your mouth.” Brown and Bongiovi have not publicly revealed their daughter’s name.
