Jason Bateman has shared an unusual chapter from his past: an arrest in Monaco while wearing what he described as a “nice little leopard outfit.” The actor said the incident followed a night involving Champagne, casino chips and a run-in with local authorities.
Bateman recounted the story on the SmartLess podcast, where he spoke with co-hosts Sean Hayes and Will Arnett. He said he was caught “all banged up” with his pockets full of casino chips.
A Night in Monaco
According to TMZ, Bateman was arrested for being drunk and disorderly in Monaco. The small Mediterranean principality, bordering the French Riviera, is widely known for its high-end casinos and luxury scene.
The details made the episode stand out beyond the arrest itself. Bateman’s leopard-print attire and the casino chips reportedly found in his pockets added a surreal twist to the story.

Bateman is best known for television roles in Arrested Development and Ozark, the latter of which earned him further acclaim as a dramatic actor. His Monaco story also gave a literal meaning to the idea of being “arrested,” long associated with the title of his earlier comedy series.
