Eugenio Suárez Returns to Seattle as Mariners Make a Late Lineup Switch

Eugenio Suárez returns to T-Mobile Park for the first time since the 2025 playoffs as the Seattle Mariners host the Cincinnati Reds. His return gives Mariners fans a familiar storyline as Seattle looks to build on its series-opening homestand win against the Giants.

A late lineup adjustment added another wrinkle before Game 101. J.P. Crawford was scratched, putting Colt Emerson into the lineup despite a planned day off on his 21st birthday.

Late Change Puts Emerson at Shortstop

Emerson will bat ninth following Crawford’s scratch, while the remaining hitters move up one spot in the order. The reason Crawford is unavailable was not immediately provided.

Cole Young moves back to the lower half of the lineup after hitting third the previous day. Manager Dan Wilson said the club believes Young can hit from any lineup position, while Dom Canzone returned after resting his hamstring.

Young indicated that his place in the order does not make much difference to him apart from leadoff, which feels distinct. His return to the back half of the lineup coincides with Canzone’s availability for the Reds matchup.

Donovan Continues Rehab Work

Brendan Donovan was at the ballpark on the minor leagues’ off day, taking part in workouts and fielding drills with Perry Hill. According to Lookout Landing, Tacoma is scheduled to travel to Reno, making Everett a likely next stop for Donovan’s rehab assignment because the club is at home this week.
