This weekend’s cinema lineup moves from the long voyage of an ancient Greek king to a haunted basement, an underwater kingdom, and a family terrorized by an ancient demonic book. The five films offer a mix of epic adventure, animation, comedy horror, supernatural mystery, and adult horror.
Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey leads the selection with a story rooted in Homer’s ancient Greek epic. Meanwhile, two Indonesian supernatural titles and two family-oriented adventures give audiences sharply different options at the cinema.

1. The Odyssey
The Odyssey follows Odysseus, the hero and King of Ithaca played by Matt Damon, as he faces a dangerous 10-year journey back to his family in ancient Greece. His struggle begins after the Trojan War, when the path home becomes a prolonged battle for survival and reunion.
Odysseus wants to return to his wife Penelope, played by Anne Hathaway, and his son Telemachus, played by Tom Holland. The film is adapted from Homer’s ancient Greek epic and is directed by Christopher Nolan.
The film carries an R13 rating, meaning it is intended for viewers aged 13 and older. Its central promise is an emotionally charged homecoming story shaped by war, distance, and the risks facing a king far from home.
2. Doraemon The Movie: New Nobita and The Castle of the Undersea Devil
Nobita and his friends cannot agree on where to go camping during their summer vacation. Doraemon suggests an unexpected destination: the bottom of the sea.
Using Doraemon’s secret tools, the “Underwater Vehicle” and “Adaptation Ray,” the five friends begin an underwater camping trip. Their journey lets them encounter a range of sea life while exploring a world far below the surface.
The group later discovers a sunken treasure ship and meets a mysterious young man named El. This new version is a remake of Doraemon: Nobita and The Castle of the Undersea Devil from 1983.
The Doraemon adventure is rated SU, or suitable for all ages. It offers a lighter choice for viewers looking for fantasy, friendship, and exploration rather than scares.
3. Cek Khodam
Cek Khodam centers on three friends—Sakti, Wira, and Bima—whose social media content about checking for khodam suddenly makes them popular. Their videos turn the supernatural world into entertainment, but the attention creates an unexpected problem.
Humans begin to lose their fear of ghosts, causing the Human Fear Index, or AKM, to fall sharply. The decline prompts the supernatural realm to act because its status depends on people remaining afraid.
The Khodam Commander is assigned to go directly into the human world and restore the honor of the supernatural realm. The mission is also meant to push the fear index back up after the trio’s online antics weaken it.
Jirayut plays Sakti, while Saputra Kori plays Wira and Benidictus Siregar plays Bima. The Indonesian comedy horror film is rated R13 and is playing in cinemas.
4. Evil Dead Burn
Evil Dead Burn follows Alice, played by Souheila Yacoub, as she mourns the tragic death of her husband. Seeking peace, she visits the secluded home of her husband’s family.
What should have been a consoling family reunion turns into a nightmare after the ancient demonic book Necronomicon is accidentally released. The book unleashes a force that begins possessing family members one by one.
Those who are possessed become Deadites, transforming the isolated house into the center of a deadly supernatural crisis. Alice’s attempt to find quiet after a personal loss is replaced by a fight against escalating terror within the family.
The film is rated D21 for adult viewers aged 21 and above. It is the most restrictive title in this five-film lineup, reflecting its demonic possession horror premise.
5. Ghost Buzzer: Antar Aku Pulang
Ghost Buzzer: Antar Aku Pulang follows four 12-year-old friends who share an interest in mysteries and supernatural events. Nizam, Vindy, Udin, and Raka use their curiosity to investigate places tied to unexplained activity.
Raka brings a device he created to detect supernatural beings, while Vindy has indigo abilities. Together, they investigate a haunted basement that holds several secrets.
Inside the basement, the children meet the spirit of a girl named Maria, who asks them to take her home so her soul can find peace. The seemingly simple request grows into a larger adventure when they uncover another mystery and encounter a spirit named Ani.
Nevan Atallah plays Nizam, Chacha Hits plays Vindy, Rafael Fernando plays Udin, and Claudio Alexandre plays Raka. The film is rated SU, making its supernatural adventure accessible to viewers of all ages.
