InterSystems has moved its AI-native electronic medical record system, InterSystems IntelliCare, into a new regulatory category by securing Medical Device Class IIa certification under the European Union’s Medical Device Regulation (MDR) 2017/745. The approval places the platform among the first AI-native RME systems in the world to meet the EU’s strict safety and quality requirements. Human review remains mandatory Even with AI inside the system, InterSystems says control remains with healthcare professionals. Any documentation suggestion or medical action produced by the platform must be reviewed and approved by clinicians before it is used.
