From 5,000 mAh to 9,020 mAh, Mid-Range Phones Are Rewriting Battery Expectations

The smartphone market is heading into a crowded stretch, and the clearest trend is hard to miss: bigger batteries and more serious gaming features are moving into the mainstream. What once looked reserved for premium models is now spreading across entry-level, mid-range, and semi-flagship phones.

One of the most attention-grabbing names in the lineup is iQOO Z11, which is said to carry a 9,020 mAh battery. If it arrives as expected, that would make it one of the largest-battery mainstream smartphones ever to enter the Indonesian market.

Battery capacity keeps climbing

The shift is not limited to one device. A 5,000 mAh battery, which used to be seen as a high standard, is now gradually giving way to new phones that sit around 6,000 mAh and even push toward 9,000 mAh.

iQOO Z11 is expected to pair that massive battery with 90W fast charging. Other rumored specifications include a Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chipset, up to 12 GB of RAM, and a 1.5K AMOLED display with a 144 Hz refresh rate.

iQOO is also preparing the iQOO Z11x as a more affordable option. The model is still set to bring a 7,200 mAh battery, supported by 44W fast charging.

Mid-range phones are getting more serious about gaming

The iQOO Z11x is also expected to use a 6.76-inch IPS LCD display with a 120 Hz refresh rate. For performance, it is said to rely on the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Turbo, which keeps the phone competitive in the mid-range segment.

Gaming-focused features are also becoming more visible outside the traditional premium space. Nubia stands out with its newer Neo series, which pushes features that are usually associated with higher-end gaming phones.

The Nubia Neo 5 Max is said to feature a 7.5-inch AMOLED display with a 120 Hz refresh rate and a MediaTek Dimensity 7080 chipset. Its physical shoulder trigger is one of the most notable additions, since this kind of control is usually linked to premium gaming devices for FPS and battle royale titles.

That model also carries a 7,000 mAh battery, which should help support long gaming sessions without frequent charging breaks.

Nubia adds more aggressive gaming hardware

Above it, the Nubia Neo 5 GT is positioned with an even stronger set of gaming-oriented hardware. It is said to use a 6.8-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 144 Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of up to 4,500 nits.

The phone is also expected to run on the MediaTek Dimensity 7400. Nubia adds an internal active cooling fan and R1/L1 physical buttons, aiming for a more console-like gaming experience.

Battery support is not overlooked either. The Nubia Neo 5 GT is said to include a 6,000 mAh battery with 80W fast charging, along with bypass charging that sends power directly to the system during gameplay while charging to help keep temperatures more stable.

Even entry-level phones are moving up

The pressure is not only coming from the mid-range and gaming categories. Entry-level devices are also expected to offer features that were once more common in higher classes.

The Tecno Spark 5 5G is one of the names drawing attention in the affordable segment. It is said to come with a 6.78-inch 120 Hz display, a MediaTek Dimensity 6400 chipset, and a 50 MP main camera.

Its power setup is also notable for the class, with a 6,500 mAh battery and 45W fast charging. That combination shows how high refresh rates and fast charging are no longer limited to expensive phones.

Infinix is also preparing the Hot 7 4G with a focus on performance. The device is said to use a 6nm Helio G100, 8 GB of LPDDR4X RAM, and storage of up to 256 GB.

Its display is described as a 120 Hz IPS panel, while battery support comes from a 6,000 mAh cell and 45W fast charging.

Semi-flagships are still pushing the ceiling higher

At the upper end of the lineup, Xiaomi and Vivo are expected to bring some of the most feature-rich devices in the group. Both are taking different approaches, but each is targeting users who want strong performance and premium hardware.

Xiaomi is said to be preparing the Xiaomi 17T and Xiaomi 17T Pro. Both models are expected to carry a 2K AMOLED display with a 144 Hz refresh rate and a triple 50 MP rear camera setup with OIS.

The camera system is also said to include a 5x optical zoom telephoto lens and a 12 MP ultra-wide camera. Video recording up to 8K is one of the clearest signs that the series is being aimed at the upper tier.

For performance, the Xiaomi 17T is rumored to use the Dimensity 8,500. The Xiaomi 17T Pro is said to go further with a latest-generation MediaTek flagship chipset and storage of up to 1 TB based on UFS 4.0.

Vivo X300 FE takes a different route by focusing on a compact body with high-end specifications. It is said to use Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, a 1.5K LTPO AMOLED display, and UFS 4.1 storage.

For photography, the phone is expected to offer a 50 MP main camera and a 50 MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. It is also said to include a 6,100 mAh battery with 90W fast charging, a combination that stands out for a compact premium device.
