Casio’s latest G-Shock collaboration with XG draws attention for more than one reason, but the most striking version is the darker one. The GM-S5600XG-1 pairs a black resin case and strap with a rainbow-coated glass finish that makes the colored reflection stand out sharply against the dark body.
The release includes two distinct watches, each built around a different visual identity. Casio has woven XG branding into key parts of both models, including the dial, strap, and case back, so the collaboration feels integrated rather than decorative.
Two watches, two very different moods
The brighter model is the Casio G-Shock GMA-S110XG-4A. It uses a pink analog-digital design with glossy accents across the dial, along with a marble-pattern resin case and strap that give it a strong 90s-inspired look.
Casio also says the dial uses a polarized effect that can shift color subtly as the wrist moves. Beyond the styling, the watch supports world time, a 1/1000-second stopwatch, five daily alarms, and protection against shock, magnetic fields, and water resistance up to 200 meters.
Why the black model stands out
The GM-S5600XG-1 takes a much more restrained route, which is exactly why the rainbow-coated glass becomes so eye-catching. Its rectangular digital display sits behind a black face, creating a cleaner contrast than the pink sibling.
That model keeps practical functions in place as well, including a 1/100-second stopwatch, a timer, and a multi-alarm system. It also carries 200-meter water resistance, matching the durability expected from the G-Shock name.
Japan release details
In Japan, Casio plans to launch the G-Shock x XG collection on June 12. The GMA-S110XG-4A is priced at ¥25,300, while the GM-S5600XG-1 costs ¥36,300.
The pricing gap reflects the more premium visual treatment on the GM-S5600XG-1, especially the rainbow-deposited glass. Casio has not yet shared pricing or launch timing for markets outside Japan.
XG branding runs through the design
The collaboration is not limited to a logo on the dial. XG’s identity appears across the watches in a way that ties the set together, from the face to the strap and even the case back.
That approach gives the collection a stronger shared theme while still letting each watch take a different direction. One leans into bright pink and marble styling, while the other relies on a black base to make the rainbow glass effect more dramatic.
