The long-running expectation that Call of Duty will eventually arrive on Nintendo Switch 2 is now tied to a specific title. Multiple clues now point to Modern Warfare 4 as the game that could open the door for the franchise on Nintendo’s new console.
That shift matters because Call of Duty has been absent from Nintendo platforms for a long time. With Microsoft already having promised to bring the series to Nintendo as part of the Activision Blizzard acquisition process, any concrete sign of a Switch 2 release is closely watched.

That detail quickly led the community to connect the teaser with Modern Warfare 4. The speculation became more credible when NateTheHate said that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 would be the first CoD title on Switch 2.
A project that already had signs of life
The Switch 2 version of Call of Duty did not appear out of nowhere. Windows Central, through Jez Corden, previously reported in December that the first CoD release for Switch was close to completion and expected to arrive within a few months.
Corden later clarified that 2026 was the safer estimate for the release window. Even without an official announcement, that comment suggested the project was real and moving forward behind the scenes.

Modern Warfare 4 is now the title most strongly associated with the rumored debut. The combination of billbil-kun’s teaser and NateTheHate’s follow-up has pushed the discussion beyond loose speculation.

A separate detail has also added weight to the rumor. A job listing from Sledgehammer Games for a Senior Technical Artist once mentioned experience with “AAA mobile or Switch.”
The posting did not name a specific project. Still, industry watchers often treat details like that as useful hints, especially when they appear alongside other signs pointing toward a Nintendo release.
Still no official confirmation
Microsoft and Activision have not confirmed Modern Warfare 4 or its platform lineup. Until that happens, the current information remains in rumor territory, even if the hints are lining up in the same direction.
