Google’s New Home Speaker Is Almost Here, and the Release Window Is Closing Fast

Google appears to be nearing the launch of its next smart speaker, with fresh signs pointing to an announcement as soon as next week. The timing matters because the product has already been tied to a Spring 2026 release window that is now almost over.

An email from Anish Kattukaran, Chief Product Officer for Google Home & Nest, helped sharpen that picture. The message thanked users for their feedback, referenced Gemini for home, and ended with a line telling recipients to “keep a very close eye on your inbox next week.”

Hints from email and retail listings

The email is not the only clue. Google had previously been expected to discuss the new speaker at I/O last month, but no announcement came during the event, shifting attention to retail listings and internal signals instead.

A Best Buy Canada listing once showed a June 25 release date, which lined up with the original Spring 2026 window. That listing has since been changed to “Coming soon,” suggesting that the launch remains imminent even if the exact date has not been locked in publicly.

A long-awaited Google Home Speaker

The device is believed to be the new Google Home Speaker that was first teased in October last year. With spring nearly over, Google now appears to be narrowing the timeline after months without a public update.

One likely scenario is an announcement between June 15 and June 22, followed by sales starting on June 25. That would match both the retail listing and the wording in Google’s internal email.

What Google is preparing

According to the details that have surfaced so far, the speaker will look different from the older Google Nest mini. Its design is said to be closer to Apple’s HomePod mini, with a compact form that sits lower and looks more rounded.

The new speaker is also expected to work in pairs with the Google TV Streamer for a surround-sound setup. Google is reportedly planning four color options as well: Berry, Hazel, Jade, and Porcelain.

Price and availability

The speaker is said to carry a price tag of $100. The Best Buy listing, meanwhile, only showed Hazel and Porcelain, even though other colors are also expected at launch.

With the email clue, the retail listing update, and the shrinking Spring 2026 window, Google’s new home speaker now looks close to a formal reveal. The remaining question is whether the company will confirm the device next week and follow through with the June 25 availability that has already appeared in retail channels.
