Redmi Turbo 5 arrives with a clear message: performance, endurance, and gaming features matter more than premium branding. Xiaomi positions the device just below flagship territory, targeting users who want strong hardware at a lower price point.
That positioning is backed by a spec sheet that leaves little room for compromise. The phone combines a MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra chip, a 7,540mAh battery, and hardware tuned for long sessions of gaming and entertainment.
Built for speed and sustained use
At the center of the Redmi Turbo 5 is the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra, paired with LPDDR5X Ultra RAM and UFS 4.1 storage. Xiaomi says the device can handle more than 20 games at up to 120fps, which puts the emphasis squarely on heavy use rather than casual browsing.
To keep performance steady under pressure, Xiaomi includes a 5,300mm square vapour cooling chamber. That setup is intended to manage heat during extended gaming or multitasking sessions.
The design also reflects that gaming-first direction. Around the rear camera module, Xiaomi adds RGB lighting that can flash for incoming calls and notifications, and it can also sync with music playback.
Large display, loud audio, and strong protection
On the front, Redmi Turbo 5 uses a 6.59-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Xiaomi says the panel reaches a peak brightness of 3,500 nits, making it easier to read outdoors in bright light.
The screen also supports Dolby Vision and HDR10+, while Xiaomi claims it can display up to 68 billion colors. Stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos round out the entertainment package and make the device more suitable for video and games.
The phone has a flat reinforced glass back, a flat aluminum frame, and a body thickness of 8.18mm. It also carries IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings, while Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protects the front panel.
Cameras, battery, and charging
The rear camera setup is led by a 50MP Sony IMX882 main sensor with optical image stabilization. That camera supports 4K video recording at 60fps, and it is joined by an 8MP ultra-wide camera.
For selfies and video calls, Xiaomi places a 20MP front camera on the device. The setup is modest compared with the performance hardware, but it covers the essentials expected from a phone in this category.
The biggest headline feature is the 7,540mAh battery, one of the most notable capacities in its class. Charging is handled by 100W wired fast charging, and the phone also supports 27W reverse charging for compatible accessories or devices.
Price, software, and availability
In India, Redmi Turbo 5 starts at Rs 37,999 for the 8GB RAM and 256GB storage variant. The 12GB RAM and 256GB storage model is priced at Rs 40,999.
Sales begin on 19 June at 12 noon. Xiaomi is also offering up to Rs 2,000 off through select bank offers, along with a guaranteed 60% buyback program after one year and three months of Spotify Premium.
Out of the box, the phone runs Android 16 with HyperOS 3. Xiaomi says it will provide four years of Android updates and six years of security updates, while HyperConnect is included for smoother connectivity with Apple devices.
With its combination of a large battery, fast charging, bright AMOLED display, and long software support, Redmi Turbo 5 is aimed at buyers who want strong value without stepping into the flagship premium segment.
