Yamaha’s 135LC has taken on a very different image in 2026. What was once known as an accessible underbone sport motorcycle is now being positioned in Malaysia as a more exclusive model, with the limited edition reaching about Rp38 million.
The change is striking for riders in Indonesia who remember the Jupiter MX 135 as a practical and affordable option. In Malaysia, the same family line continues under the 135LC name and remains an important product in the 135 cc underbone sport segment.
Limited edition status adds value
Yamaha Malaysia has introduced the 2026 135LC in two versions, a standard model and a 20th Anniversary Special Edition. The limited model is capped at 5,000 units, giving it a stronger collector appeal than the regular variant.
The anniversary edition comes in Celeste and uses a special serial number. Yamaha also refreshed the standard version with new color choices, giving the lineup a more modern look without changing its core identity.
Same familiar character underneath
Despite the updated styling, the 135LC still keeps the lightweight and responsive behavior that has helped it last for years. That familiar formula remains one of its biggest strengths in a market where underbone motorcycles are still valued for daily use.
Under the bodywork, the motorcycle continues to use a 135 cc single-cylinder, four-stroke, liquid-cooled engine with electronic fuel injection. Output is rated at around 12.4 horsepower at 8,000 rpm and 12.2 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm.
Power is sent to the rear wheel through a 4-speed transmission. The setup keeps the motorcycle simple, but it still fits the needs of everyday commuting.
Practical hardware remains in place
Yamaha equips the 135LC with telescopic front suspension and an adjustable rear monoshock. Braking is handled by hydraulic disc brakes at both ends, which supports the motorcycle’s practical positioning.
The motorcycle weighs around 109 kg and has a seat height of 775 mm. It also uses 17-inch wheels and carries a 4.6-liter fuel tank, dimensions that keep it manageable for a wide range of riders.
| Variant | Price |
|---|---|
| Yamaha 135LC Standard | 8,298 Malaysian Ringgit |
| Yamaha 135LC 20th Anniversary Limited Edition | 8,798 Malaysian Ringgit |
The standard version is priced at about Rp36 million, while the limited edition sits at about Rp38 million. That level places the motorcycle far above the price many riders associate with the old Jupiter MX 135 in Indonesia.
For enthusiasts, the rise is not only about money. It also reflects how the 135LC has shifted from an everyday underbone into a model with nostalgia value, a long-running history, and a more exclusive market position.
