The gap between Vivo’s two new flagships is not just about camera hardware. The X300 Ultra and X300 FE are aimed at very different buyers, and the difference shows up in price, size, performance, and even how each phone should feel in daily use.
That divide is immediate in India, where the X300 FE starts at Rs 79,999, while the X300 Ultra is priced at Rs 1,59,999 for its only available variant. Vivo is clearly using the two models to address opposite ends of the premium market, with one focused on maximum ambition and the other on a more compact and relatively affordable entry point.
Two flagships, two very different roles
Both phones still carry the flagship label, but the experience they promise is not the same. The X300 Ultra is built for users who want the highest possible camera and hardware output, while the X300 FE is positioned as the simpler and cheaper option without leaving the premium segment entirely.
That difference is visible across the entire specification sheet. The X300 Ultra pushes harder on imaging, display quality, memory, and charging, while the X300 FE trims those ambitions to keep the device smaller and easier to carry.
Camera hardware is where the split becomes obvious
The rear camera systems are the most dramatic point of separation. The X300 Ultra uses a 200MP main camera, a 200MP telephoto camera, and a 50MP ultra-wide camera, giving it a far more aggressive setup for both photos and video.
It also supports up to 3.7x optical zoom, digital zoom up to 105x, and 8K video recording at 30fps. By contrast, the X300 FE comes with a 50MP main camera, a 50MP telephoto camera, and an 8MP ultra-wide camera, which is still suitable for everyday use but sits well below the Ultra in resolution, zoom range, and video capability.
The front camera is one area where Vivo keeps things level. Both models use a 50MP selfie camera with screen flash for low-light shots.
Screen size and speed follow the same pattern
The display story mirrors the camera split. Each phone uses an AMOLED panel with a nearly borderless design and a punch-hole cutout, but the sizes and specifications are not the same.
The X300 Ultra features a 6.82-inch display with QHD+ resolution at 1440 x 3168 pixels and a 144Hz refresh rate. The X300 FE is more compact at 6.31 inches, with FHD+ resolution at 1216 x 2640 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate.
That makes the Ultra the more ambitious choice for users who want a larger and sharper screen, while the FE is tuned for those who prefer a smaller body.
Performance and memory also separate the two
Inside, both phones use Qualcomm Snapdragon chips, but not the same one. The X300 Ultra runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, while the X300 FE is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5.
Memory options widen the gap further. The X300 Ultra arrives with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, while the X300 FE offers 12GB of RAM with 256GB or 512GB storage choices.
Battery life is close, but charging still favors the Ultra
Battery capacity is nearly identical on paper, which means the difference in day-to-day endurance may not be dramatic. The X300 Ultra carries a 6,600mAh battery, while the X300 FE uses a 6,500mAh battery.
Charging speed is where the Ultra regains the advantage. It supports 100W Flash Charging, compared with 90W fast charging on the X300 FE, and both phones use a USB Type-C port.
Design and handling tell the rest of the story
Vivo has also given the two models distinct visual identities. The X300 Ultra uses a large circular rear camera module, while the X300 FE gets a horizontal oval module positioned at the top of the back panel.
The Ultra is the heavier device at around 237 grams, with a weight distribution that is more noticeable toward the top. The FE is much easier to handle in daily use, weighing 191 grams and measuring 7.99 mm thick.
For India, the X300 FE also comes in an Urban Olive color that is described as exclusive for Indian buyers. Both models will go on sale on 14 May through Amazon, Flipkart, and offline retail stores.
Taken together, the two phones show how Vivo is splitting its flagship approach in India. The X300 Ultra is the more extreme package for users who want the largest screen, the most advanced cameras, and the strongest specifications, while the X300 FE offers a lighter, smaller, and less expensive route into the same lineup.
