EVOS delivered one of its most important wins of MPL ID Season 17 by sweeping Dewa United Esports 2-0 in the opening match of the third day of week 8. The result kept EVOS’ playoff hopes alive while also delaying Dewa United’s chance to secure a faster ticket to the postseason.
The victory carried extra weight because EVOS had just fallen 0-2 to NAVI. With the added points from this match, EVOS moved back into a safer position in the race toward the playoff stage and climbed to third place in the temporary standings.
A turning point after Dewa’s early control
Dewa United started Game 1 with stronger early-game pressure. They played with a faster tempo and showed better map control at the beginning, while EVOS spent the opening phase searching for its rhythm in the mid game.
The momentum changed after EVOS secured the Perfect Turtle. From that point, the control of the match shifted, and EVOS began winning a series of important team fights. One of the key moments came when EVOS eliminated three Dewa United players in the mid lane.
That opening allowed EVOS to pressure the map more confidently. The team then took the first Lord with little resistance and continued to build pressure after securing the second Lord as well.
Game 1 ends with a clean wipeout
The decisive moment arrived in the fight for the third Lord. EVOS looked sharper in the team fight and managed to wipe out all Dewa United players. With complete control of the map, EVOS closed down the opponent’s defenses and finished Game 1 in 16:57.
That finish gave EVOS a strong foundation heading into the second game. It also showed how quickly the match could swing once EVOS gained control of key objectives.
EVOS shuts the door in Game 2
The second game unfolded very differently. EVOS seized control from the start and forced a fast pace that left Dewa United with little room to recover. The pressure never really eased, and Dewa United struggled to create any meaningful response.
Once again, the Perfect Turtle became a major momentum shift for EVOS. The team carried that advantage into the first Lord contest, where it won the team fight, eliminated three Dewa United players, and secured the objective.
Dewa United could not find a way back after that. The same pattern repeated at the second Lord, with EVOS again winning the team fight, taking down three more Dewa United players, and claiming another crucial objective.
With the numbers advantage in hand, EVOS pushed straight into the enemy base and completed the sweep. Game 2 ended at 14:28, sealing the 2-0 victory.
Standings pressure intensifies
The outcome left MPL ID Season 17’s playoff race even tighter. EVOS’ win lifted the team to third in the temporary standings, while Dewa United stayed in second place but still could not lock in a playoff spot.
The match also highlighted how decisive objective control can be in a high-stakes series. Perfect Turtle and Lord repeatedly became the moments that changed the flow of both games, and Dewa United never fully recovered once EVOS took over the tempo.
