The abandoned plan was aimed at a handset as thin as iPhone Air. But Xiaomi appears to have concluded that an extreme body profile would ask too much from the hardware inside, especially where battery life and performance are concerned.
Design thinness comes with real constraints
A very slim phone leaves little room for the components that matter most in daily use. Battery capacity becomes harder to preserve, and cooling hardware also has to compete for space inside the chassis.
