Amazon has already put up a dedicated microsite for the Xiaomi 17T, a strong sign that the phone’s arrival in India is drawing close. The page also puts the spotlight where Xiaomi wants it most: on a Zeiss-tuned telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom.
That camera setup is shaping up to be the main selling point for the new T-series model. Xiaomi is also using the launch to mark the return of the X line to India after more than four years, while the 17T becomes the first T-series device in the market since the Xiaomi 11T Pro launched in January 2022.
Zoom camera takes center stage
Xiaomi is positioning the 17T as a phone built around long-range photography. The telephoto camera is tuned with Zeiss and supports up to 5x optical zoom, making it the most prominent feature highlighted so far.
The company also claims “optical quality” zoom up to 10x and digital zoom up to 120x with AI support. In terms of coverage, the telephoto lens offers an equivalent focal length range from 23mm to 115mm.
The lens uses an f/3.0 aperture, which gives an initial indication of how the phone may handle mid-range and distant shots. Xiaomi has said more camera details will be revealed on 26 May.
Launch timing and market rollout
The Xiaomi 17T and Xiaomi 17T Pro are scheduled to debut globally in several markets on 28 May. After that international launch, the standard Xiaomi 17T is expected to arrive in India on 4 June.
That timeline means Indian buyers will not have to wait long after the global unveiling. Amazon has also confirmed that the phone will be sold through its platform once it officially launches in India.
Design details already visible
The Xiaomi 17T has already appeared with a boxy rear camera module and three cameras on the back. An LED flash sits next to the main camera island, while the back panel carries vertical Xiaomi branding near the lower-left corner.
The device also appears to use a flat metal frame, giving it a clean and modern look. The power button and volume keys sit on the right side, while the left side remains free of buttons.
One detail still needs clarification. Amazon’s microsite emphasizes a Zeiss-tuned telephoto camera, but earlier design material highlighted a triple rear camera tuned by Leica. Xiaomi is expected to clear up the camera setup when it shares more details on 26 May.
Variants and color options
The Xiaomi 17T series will come in two display variants, with the Pro model expected to have a larger screen than the other device in the line. For colors, the Xiaomi 17T Pro has been confirmed in Deep Blue, while the standard Xiaomi 17T will be available globally in Violet.
For users looking for a Xiaomi phone focused on zoom photography, the combination of 5x optical zoom, a 115mm telephoto range, and Amazon-backed availability makes the 17T one of the most closely watched launches in the lineup.
