Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Phones Split Into Two Camps, Gaming Beasts and Camera Flagships

Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is quickly becoming the chip that defines the next wave of flagship phones, but the most interesting part is how differently brands are using it. Some are turning it into a pure gaming weapon, while others are pairing it with advanced camera systems, foldable designs, and premium productivity features.

That split is already visible across the devices linked to the chip. The lineup does not follow one formula, because each brand is pushing a different priority: extreme performance, cooling, imaging, battery life, or design flexibility.

Gaming-first phones lead the charge

For users who want raw speed above everything else, iQOO 15 and iQOO 15R stand out immediately. Both are described as among the first phones to use Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 in Indonesia, with a clear focus on extreme gaming and large vapor chamber cooling.

Their 6.8-inch 2K AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate is one of the main attractions. The pair is also listed with up to 24GB of RAM, up to 1TB of storage, a 6,500 mAh battery, 120W fast charging, and an expected starting price of Rp11 million.

REDMAGIC 11 Pro and 11S Pro take a more aggressive route for gamers. The series adds an internal RGB cooling fan and gaming shoulder triggers, which makes the target audience very clear.

The OLED 165Hz panel is a major selling point, along with up to 24GB of RAM, up to 1TB of internal memory, an 8,000 mAh battery, 165W fast charging, and an estimated starting price of Rp12 million. That combination puts the REDMAGIC models in the territory of serious mobile gaming hardware.

Realme GT8 Pro offers a different balance by keeping the price more competitive. It still aims at gaming and heavy daily use, but it does so with hardware that remains highly capable in its class.

The phone is said to bring an AMOLED 144Hz display, up to 16GB of RAM, up to 1TB of storage, a 50MP main camera, a 6,500 mAh battery, 150W fast charging, and an expected starting price of Rp9 million. In this group, it becomes the more accessible option without stepping away from premium performance.

Premium flagships split toward camera and versatility

The picture changes once the focus shifts from gaming to photography and all-round use. Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra appears as one of the most premium choices, combining high-end power with a more complete flagship package.

It uses Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and carries a 200MP main camera. Samsung also equips it with a 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, a periscope zoom camera, and a built-in S Pen.

Its 5,500 mAh battery, 65W fast charging, and expected starting price of Rp22 million reinforce its position at the very top end of the market. This is the model for users who want performance, but not at the expense of a mature flagship feature set.

Vivo X300 Ultra follows a more camera-focused path. It comes with Zeiss branding, a 1-inch main sensor, and a periscope telephoto camera that is aimed at flagship-level imaging.

Other listed details include an AMOLED LTPO display, a 6,000 mAh battery, 100W fast charging, and an expected starting price of Rp18 million. That makes it one of the strongest candidates for mobile photography users who still want high performance from the same platform.

Xiaomi and OPPO push the chip into different flagship formats

Xiaomi 17 Series and Xiaomi 16 Series also adopt the new CPU Oryon and next-generation Adreno GPU. Xiaomi positions both series as devices that balance performance, display quality, and camera features.

Each line is said to include a 2K AMOLED LTPO display, Leica cameras, and 8K video recording. The phones run the latest HyperOS, carry batteries in the 5,500–6,000 mAh range, support fast charging up to 120W, and start at around Rp10 million.

OPPO Find N5 shows that Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is not limited to conventional slab phones. The foldable device is expected to use the chip while emphasizing a thin design, multitasking ability, and flagship imaging.

The details mentioned include a foldable AMOLED display, a thinner and stronger hinge, and Hasselblad cameras. OPPO is also preparing a dual-cell battery, SuperVOOC fast charging, and an expected starting price of Rp24 million.

Taken together, these devices show a clear direction for the flagship market. Brands are no longer selling only faster processors, but complete experiences built around cooling, large batteries, fast charging, strong cameras, and premium designs.
